Money flowing for President Trump to be impeached

Thu, May 18, 4:12pm by Staff Writer

As Donald Trump’s presidency lurches from one scandal to another, punters have begun to put their money on the president being impeached in his first term.

Recent revelations suggest President Trump had passed information onto Russia which may have been classified, while his sacking of FBI director James Comey has led to allegations that he attempted to interfere in the FBI’s investigation into his former national security adviser Michael Flynn.

All in all, it has been a disastrous week for the new president, who told his supporters in a rally this week that it was all a media conspiracy against him.

“Look at the way I’ve been treated lately, especially by the media. No politician in history, and I say this with great purity, has been treated worse or more unfairly,” Mr Trump said.

But the appointment of former FBI director Robert Mueller to oversee Russia’s involvement in the Trump administration is set to ensure that the president remains in the headlines.

And the punters are starting to believe he could face impeachment. Sportsbet have reported that over $11,000 has been placed on Trump to be impeached and the odds of that are now $2.10 having been $5 when he was inaugurated in January.  It is still $1.67 that he won’t be impeached.

Surviving his full first term is now out to $1.67 from $1.11 at the start of the year.

“Trump is getting it from every angle right now and the punters’ reaction has been loud and clear that he’ll face impeachment sooner rather than later,’’ said’s Will Byrne.

Sportsbet are also offering odds that FBI will confirm the Trump links with Russia at the 2016 election. That is priced at $2.25.

Having said that, trump is still $3 favourite to win the 2020 Presidential Election, and $1.72 to get the next Republic nomination.
