The regular Super Rugby season will come to a conclusion this weekend. With the exact make up of the Finals potentially going down to the very last match of the season.
Chiefs v Brumbies, Waikato Stadium, Saturday July 15, 3:15pm AEST
Australia’s sole representative in the Finals has already been confirmed with the Brumbies topping the Conference. They are guaranteed a home Qualifying Final, thanks to the Conference system despite their record being far worse than many of the other sides. This weekend, the Brumbies face the Chiefs who will be hoping that they can force their way into 5th place on the ladder. A Chiefs victory over the Brumbies coupled with the Hurricanes losing will see this happen. The Brumbies are massive underdogs at $6.50 with William Hill. An Australian side is yet to beat a Kiwi one this year and it will take a huge effort from the Brumbies for the Chiefs to drop the game at a price of $1.11. The Brumbies lost in Round 16 to the Reds and will need a much improved performance if they are to challenge the Chiefs at all.
Bet of the Match: Chiefs to Win by 13+ points at $1.53
Hurricanes v Crusaders, Westpac Stadium, Wellington, Saturday July 15, 5:35pm AEST
The all-New Zealand clash of the Hurricanes against the Crusaders is shaping up to be the match of the round. Currently ranked 1st ahead of their South African rivals, the Crusaders can ensure that seeding regardless of other results if they can beat the Hurricanes. Having only lost to the British & Irish Lions so far this year, the men from Canterbury are in fine form. Despite this they are edged out by the Hurricanes with William Hill. The home side are favourites at $1.80 compared to the Crusaders at $2.00. These two sides last met in Round 12, with the Crusaders coming away victorious 20-12 on home soil. The Hurricanes will be aiming to maintain their 5th position in the seedings with a win here to hold off the Chiefs.
Bet of the Match: Crusaders to Win by 1-12 points at $3.00
Sharks v Lions, Kings Park, Durban, Sunday July 16, 1:15am AEST
In South Africa, the Sharks will host the Lions in a match that sees second place in the South Africa 2 Conference take on first place. The Lions will be looking to potentially pip the Crusaders to the number one seeding for the Finals. If the Crusaders lose and the Lions can beat the Sharks then that will be the case. The Lions head into this match priced at $1.30 with William Hill, while the Sharks currently stand at $3.50 as they look to gain revenge for their loss to the Lions earlier in the season. That game was a close affair with the Lions edging out the Sharks 34-29 in a high-scoring contest. With both sides looking for momentum moving forward into the Finals this could well be another close-fought battle.
Bet of the Match: Lions to Win by 1-12 points at $2.85
