Tom Hawkins Set For Breakout Year According To Betting Markets

Fri, Mar 9, 3:03pm by Kevin Pitstock

After his match winning performance in last year’s Grand Final punters are convinced that Tom Hawkins will have a breakout year in 2012, with a $1.90 line set for the Tomahawk to kick over or under 42 goals with online bookmaker sportsbet.com.au.

After only kicking 27 goals in 2011, 42 goals or more would be a big leap for the young full forward, however now entering his sixth AFL season, his form towards the end of 2011 showed that he is up to the challenge.

“His highest goal tally has only been 34, but we think he showed some really good signs last year and he could be ready to take that big step that the Geelong fans have been waiting for since he debuted,” said sportsbet.com.au’s Shaun Anderson.
“If the Cats are to defend their title, a lot will depend on how Hawkins goes and whether he can be that main man in the forward line.”

After a disappointing injury interrupted year in 2011, St Kilda captain Nick Riewoldt will also recapture some form according to punters, with a $1.90 line set for him to kick over or under 44 goals.

After only kicking 31 goals last year Adelaide’s Kurt Tippett is also expected to flourish under new coach Brenton Sanderson, with a $1.85 line set for him to kick over and under 44 goals.
