Minnesota Twins at Tampa Bay Rays Preview

We have two teams going in opposite directions in this game. The Rays have won three games in a row thanks to a walk-off homer by Johnny Damon in the bottom of the 10th inning. The Twins have lost their All Star Joe Mauer for at least 15 days and have lost four of their last five games.

The Rays send a righty Wade Davis to the mound with an 0-2 mark with a 4.38 ERA. In his last start vs. the White Sox, he pitched six innings and gave up two runs for the loss. For his career, Davis has an 8.71 ERA against the Twins in just over ten innings of work. However, in his last 15 starts dating back to last year, Davis is 7-3 with a 3.38 ERA. He better pitch around Jim Thome as he has homered both times he has faced him. Nick Blackburn goes to the hill for the Twins and he is 1-1 for the year with a good 0.77 ERA. In his career he is 2-2 and a 6.10 ERA against Tampa Bay. Some batters he needs to watch out for are Kelly Shoppach who is 7 for 12 with 2 homers and Johnny Damon at 7 for 222 also with two himers and 6 RBI’s.

This is a match-up of two young pitchers. Damon is heating up with 9 hits in 27 at bats and nine RBI’s with 3 home runs since Manny Ramirez has retired. The Twins still have Justin Morneau and Thome to handle the offensive duties but Danny Valencia has been a surprise thus far this year as have Denard Span. Our pick in this one is for the Twins to win this with the odds from Sportingbet 2.22 for your win.
Milwaukee Brewers at Washington Nationals Preview

The Brewers have been hot with wins in seven of their last eight games. Milwaukee has been on an offensive tear with 10 runs in two games in Pittsburgh. The Nationals have dropped two in a row to the league leading Phillies as they ran into a buzzsaw in Cliff Lee.

Lefthander Chris Narveson will take to the mound with his 1-0 record and a perfect 0.00 ERA. He has thrown 13 innings without allowing a run. The Nationals have some hitters that have provided success against him as they line=up is 6 for 19 and led by Michael Morse with 2 home runs in 4 at bats. Tom Gorzelanny will take to the mound as he has not had much success for several years as he bounced around from team to team since his stellar year in 2007 with the Pirates. In his opening start he allowed six earned runs and struck out eight. The Brewers have hit him to the tune of just.250. He may want to avoid Ryan Braun as he is 9 for 19 with 3 homers and 9 RBI’s.

Even with Gorzelanny having some success we can’t pass up the good starts by Narveson and the offense the Brewers bring to the game. Checking the odds courtesy of Sportingbet we find the Brewers at 1.81 and with our free pick bet on the Pirates to win your bet.
Chicago Cubs at Colorado Rockies Preview

The Rockies are the best team in the major leagues at this time. They have won 10 games out of their last 11 since they lost on opening day. They bring in the Chicago Cubs who have lost 2 of their last 3 games vs. the Astros. The Cus send Matt Garza out to the hill. He has a 0-1 record this year with a 5.68 ERA but has struck out 20 batters in just over 12 innings of work. Garza faltered in his other start vs. the Rockies by giving up four runs in five innings. His other starts against the Pirates and Brewers  were not very impressive. Jhoulys Chacin will pitch against the Cubs and he is 2-0 on the young season with an impressive 2.77 ERA. In his career, he is 0-1 with a 4.70 ERA vs. the Cubs.

This is Coors Field we are talking about here so the numbers for ERA can usually be thrown out. Garza has been a good pitcher in the American League but now he faces a game where the batters put the ball in play. Look for the Rockies to come away with a victory here with the odds courtesy of Sportingbet the Colorado Rockies are 1.66 and our free pick is on the Rockies to win.

Our Picks:

Brewers 1.81

Twins 2.22

Rockies 1.66
