Atlanta Braves at New York Mets Preview
The Braves send Derek Lowe to the mound and he has been sensational with 15 innings of work with 15 strikeouts but they have given him very liitle run support for his 1-2 record with a 1.45 ERA. He has pitched well against some of the Mets as Carlos Beltran is hitting .200 with 7 hits in 35 at bats but third baseman David Wright has slugged .321 with 5 RBI’s against Lowe. The Mets send D.J.Carrasco to the hill for his first start of the year. He is a fill-in type pitcher and will be taking the rotation spot of Chris Young who is out with tendinitis. The hope is for him to go five innings but he has never thrown more than 23 pitches in any major league game in his career.
Tampa Bay Rays at Minnesota Twins Preview
The Rays will toss right-hander Jeff Niemann to face Scott Baker for the Twins as neither pitcher has won a game in 2011. Niemann has struggled in his first two starts with just under 9 innings of work and allowed 14 hits. He only last 2 1/3 innings in his last outing and gave up five hits and three runs. Baker is been equally horrible and has allowed four home runs to start the season. His career record vs. Rays is 2-2 with a 3.21 ERA. The Rays, as a team, have only hit .178 against him.
Florida Marlins at Philadelphia Phillies Preview
Winless in two starts the Marlins send Anibal Sanchez and his 6.97 ERA to the hill to face the Phillies. Sanchez didn’t last five innings in his last start as the Astros pounded him for 13 hits. The Phillies have hit him really well in the past lead by Ryan Howard with two homers and a .300 average vs. him. In sanchez 11 lifetime starts vs. the Phillies he is 3-7 with a 5.93 ERA. Cole Hamels takes a 5.59 ERA and a 1-1 record to the mound to pitch against the Marlins. In his last start he shut out the Atlanta Braves for seven innings of his work. Florida has not been kind to him in his career as he has a 4-7 record with a 3.73 ERA in 15 starts. They have pounded him for 14 home runs in just 94 innings. Chris Coghlan has had the most success against him with 2 homers and a .462 batting average.
Our Picks: All odds courtesy of Iasbet
Look for Derek Lowe and the Braves to prove too much for the Mets and bet the 1.60 on the Braves for the win.
The Minnesota Twins squeak this on out in the game of winless pitchers. Bet the Twins at 2.21.
Most assuredly the Phillies take this game so place your bet on the Phillies at 1.53
