Game: Boston Red Sox vs. New York Yankees
Date/Time: Monday April 11th, 2011 / 11:05am AEST
The best rivalry in baseball will conclude for the first of many epic series. The Boston Red Sox will host the New York Yankees for the Sunday Night game of the week. The Yankees and Red Sox have split the first two games of the three game series. Both teams have high hopes of winning the American League Central.
Boston Red Sox Overview:
The Boston Red Sox have been off to a very slow start, winning just one of their first eight games on the season. Boston, who was expected to have one of the best offensives in Major League Baseball have scored just 25 runs in eight games. The Red Sox have seen former MVP Dustin Pedroria lead the team with a .355 batting average, but string base hits and runs together has been very tough.
Boston will send Josh Beckett to the mound. Beckett lost in his first start of the season; going five innings and allowing three runs on 5 hits. In his career, Beckett has a 112-75 record.
New York Yankees Overview:
New York comes into the game with a 5-3 record. The Yankees have been much better than Boston on offense, scoring 41 runs in 8 games. The leading hitter for the Yankees has been Robinson Cano, as he is batting .324. New York has also enjoyed the power surge from Mark Teixiera to start the young season. The Yankees, last season were one of the top offensive teams in the league.
C.C. Sabathia will take the mound for the Yankees. Sabathia has made two starts already this season, and has yet to earn a decision either way. Sabathia has pitched 13 innings, allowed 8 hits and given up 2 earned runs. Sabathia has started 324 games, picking up a career 157-88 record. Sabathia has been up and down in his career against the Red Sox.
Red Sox/Yankees Pick:
You can always count on this game being one of the best of the day. The Yankees and Red Sox have a ton of history between the two teams. The fans hate each other, the players hate each other and the managers hate each other. It appears the Yankees will have the better end of the pitching match-up in this one. We are going to go with the tough left hander C.C. Sabathia, as the Yankees win this game.
Our pick: Bet the New York Yankees -115. Take the Yankees at Centrebet!
