Here are some Major League baseball games you may wish to consider betting that are being played on April 3. 2011
Pittsburgh Pirates vs. Chicago Cubs
This game is played in Chicago, Illinois at 5:05 AM AEST on april 3, 2011. Paul Maholm has handled the Cubs rather well over the years but he struggles against right-handed batters Aramis Ramirez of the cubs is 10 for 30 lifetimes with 2 home runs against Maholm. Alfonso Soriano comes in with 4 homers and is 8 for 28 against the left-hander. However the left-handed batters are only hitting .208 against him. Carlos Zambrano will take the mound for the Cubs and he finished the season as one of the hottest pitchers in the league. In his last 11 games he went 8-0 with a 1.41 ERA. Ryan Doumit, Andrew McCutcheon and Garrett Jones for the Pirates have all had mild success against the big righty. In their only head-to-head game in 2010 Maholm was bombed for eight runs in 3 1/3 innings and Zambrano lasted until the 5th innings giving up four hits. The odds have the Chicago Cubs at -184 but I feel confident that the Pirates odds +173 and is a better bet for your money.
Florida Marlins vs. New York Mets
Another game to look at is the Florida Marlins taking on the New York Mets. This game will be played at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Florida at 11:05 AM AEST April 3, 2011. The Mets will send a lefty to the mound to seek their first win after a loss in the opener. Jonathon Niese has been roughed up by the Marlins for 13 runs in just over 11 innings in his last two start attempts against them. The Marlins send fireballer Ricky Nolasco to the mound after a terrific Spring Training start against the Cardinals in his final effort before the regular season. Nolasco has had some knee issues but they appear to be behind him now. He is 5-6 and has a 5.46 ERA in his lifetime appearances against the Mets. In the opener Jose Reyes and David Wright combined for a 0-8 start but have always hit Nolasco well with 3 homers, .375 batting average and 5 RBI’s. The odds are with the Marlins as Nolasco is a much better pitcher than Niese so bet the Marlins -145 with confidence.
Texas Rangers vs. Boston Red Sox
The Texas Rangers will defend their American League Champion status against the always tough Boston Red Sox. John Lackey won 14 games last year but has not had much success against the Rangers. He is 11-12 lifetime and has a very high 5.74 ERA against them. While Lackey is capable to pitch deep into the game, he did maintain a 4.40 ERA in 2010. Colby Lewis is the starter for Texas. He won 12 games last year and lost 13 with a 3.72 ERA. Lewis has won one and lost one vs. the Red Sox with a 3.12 ERA for his lifetime. Lewis will be remembered for his splendid postseason with a 3-0 record and 1.72 ERA and one World Series victory. The odds from Sportingbet have the Boston Red Sox +107. Early in the year it is difficult to have confidence in some of the pitchers but now is the time to place your bet on Boston and John Lackey at +107 to win.
