Kansas City Royals vs. Chicago White Sox Preview
GAME: Chicago White Sox (2-1) at Kansas City Royals (3-1)
Wednesday, April 06 – 12:10 PM AEST
WHERE: Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri
The pitching match for this game is RH pitcher Gavin Floyd winner of 10 games last year taking the mound for the White Sox to face the Royals RH pitcher Luke Hochevar. Floyd is coming back from a shoulder issue and has a 4.73 ERA and a 2-2 lifetime record against Kansas City. Francouer is 4 for 6 facing Floyd and the ream has a composite .324 hitting against him. Hochevar has a lot to do to impress the Royals as he just made the rotation with a decent Spring. He is a 6-6 lifetime pitcher and has a 4.81 ERA. Chicago is hitting .214 against him as Ramirez and Pierre are the only two with big success in facing him.
Chicago brings big bats as Carlos Quentin has started red hot and is complimented by Adam Dunn and Paul Konerko on the offensive side. Mark Buehrle and John Danks lead the pitching rotation. Kansas City is led by Billy Butler, Alex Gordon and Melky Cabrera with their strong batting power. KC will be looking to Joakim Soria to close out their games. Checking the odds at Centrebet find the White Sox are 1.81 to win and we believe that is a good bet.
Los Angeles Dodgers at Colorado Rockies Preview
GAME: Los Angeles Dodgers (3-1) at Colorado Rockies (1-1)
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, April 06 – 12:40 PM AEST
WHERE: Coors Field, Denver, Colorado
The Dodgers send their ace left handed fire ball pitcher Clayton Kershaw to Coors Field to face Jhoulys Chacin. Each pitcher makes their second start of the season. Kershaw pitched seven innings of shutout ball in the opener against San Francisco. He struck out nine and allowed four hits. Someo fhte Rockies that have had some success against him is Dexter Fowler who has 7 hits in 19 at bats and Ryan Spillborghs is 6 for 27 but with 2 home runs. Tulowitzki is struggling with a .185 batting average. Chacin, who finished spring training with a 3.52 ERA over 23 innings, was 3-3 with a 2.87 ERA in six starts against the Dodgers last season. Andre Ethier is 5 for 10 (.286) against Chacin, and James Loney is 5 for 15 (.333) with six RBIs. Matt Kemp is 3 for 17 (.176). Colorado is 1.98 to win this game and we don’t have lots of confidence in that facing Kershaw. The Dodgers are the odds favorites at 1.98 and a good bet.
San Francisco Giants at San Diego Padres Preview
GAME: San Francisco Giants (1-3) at San Diego Padres (2-1)
DATE/TIME: Wednesday, April 06 – 10:35 AM AEST
WHERE: Petco Park, San Diego, California
Aaron Harang will make his Padres debut after spending many years pitching for the Cincinnati Reds. He did not have a good Spring training as he had a 6.12 ERA. Last year Harang was 0-1 with a 3.38 against the Giants. A few of the players from SF that have hit Harang well are Pat Burrell and Mike Fontenot. The Padres have Madison Bumgarner who won 7 games last year but has throttled San Diego with a 1.93 ERA. Chase Headley has hit him well while Ludwick, Denorfia and Hundley have struggled. The odds from Centrebet have the Giants 1.85 and with some confidence that is a decent bet.
