Today’s MLB matchups for your betting consideration with odds from Sportsbet:
Preview Washington Nationals (1-3) at Florida Marlins (2-2)
DATE/TIME: Thursday, April 07 – 11:10 AM AEST
WHERE: Sun Life Stadium, Miami, Florida
This game features a pitching match-up of righthander Livan Hernandez of the Nationals facing Chris Volstad of the Marlins. Hernandez is 13-10 with a 3.48 ERA lifetime against Florida in 31 starts. He lost his Opening Day start to Atlanta by a 2-0 score. Volstad won 12 games last year and had a 4.58 ERA on the season. He has a career 5.70 ERA and a 5-1 record against them.He key will be if he can keep the ball in the park and not give up a home run. He went from 29 allowed in 2009 to 17 last season.
Florida is led in home runs as Logan Morrison has two on the season and Emilio Bonafacio is hitting for a .455 average. The pitching has seen Jason Marquis as the bright spot in his s=first start. Washington shows Rick Ankiel is tied for the home run lead with one and Ryan Zimmerman is hitting .384 for the season. The Nationals will be leaning on Tyler Clippard to save games on a regular basis for them. The odds have the Washington Nationals 2.30 for the game and we like Hernandez to pitch them to victory.
Preview Detroit Tigers (1-3) at Baltimore Orioles (4-0)
DATE/TIME: Thursday, April 07 – 11:05 AM AEST
WHERE: Oriole Park at Camden Yards, Baltimore, Maryland
Baltimore is on fire as they have won their first four games. Don’t go crazy betting them as they will be coming back down to earth here very soon. They send Brad Bergesen to the mound to face Justin Verlander and the Detroit Tigers. Bergesen is 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA in his young career against the Tigers. Justin Verlander has not lost to the Orioles in his career. He is 5-0 with a 2.52 ERA pitching against the Orioles.
The Tigers are led in offense by Miguel Cabrera who is off to a hot start and the Orioles have Brain Roberts leading them. It is time for the Tigers to put an end to the Orioles streak. The odds are Tigers 1.81 and we expect them to cover that bet.

Preview Chicago White Sox (2-2) at Kansas City Royals (4-1)
DATE/TIME: Thursday, April 07 – 6:10 AM AEST
WHERE: Kauffman Stadium, Kansas City, Missouri
Another team not to play early in the season is the Kansas City Royals. They have slid into first place and now they have to defend it. The pitchers of record find Mark Buehrle for the White Sox taking on Jeff Francis of the Royals. Buehrle has always been hit hard by the Royals as they have a .340 batting average against the lefty. Francis comes from Colorado and welcomes the chance to pitch outside Coors Field. Though he didn’t get a decision, Francis was solid in his American League debut on Opening Day, allowing one run in seven innings of work. He had been plagued by injuries during his last two years in Colorado, going 4-6 with a 5.00 ERA in 2010. Though Francis hasn’t faced Chicago, several White Sox have experience against him, with OF Juan Pierre (14 for 30) enjoying the most success. Odds show the Royals at 1.91 and with Buehrle’s past problems facing them, we believe the Royals take this game to victory. Bet the Royals 1.91.
