Game: Atlanta Hawks vs. Chicago Bulls
Date/Time: Friday May 13th, 2011 / 10:00am AEST
It’s do or die time for the Atlanta Hawks. As they host the Chicago Bulls at the Phillips Arena, they must win to stay alive in the 2011 postseason. Chicago leads the best-of-seven series 3-2 over the Hawks. The Bulls are the top seed in all of the NBA and are coming off a home win in game five. The Hawks are the fifth seed, and coming off a series win over divisional rival Orlando. The winner of this series will take on the winner of the Miami Heat and Boston Celtics series.
Atlanta Hawks Overview:
The Hawks fans were a little nervous at the start of the postseason, after seeing their team lose their final six games of the regular season. After a solid series with the Orlando Magic, Atlanta has the confidence to take on the top team in the league. The Hawks have gotten a surprise from former Wake Forest star Jeff Teague, as he led the Hawks with 21 points in the game five loss. Atlanta needs offense, as they scored just 95 points per game; fifth worst in all of the NBA.
Atlanta was led throughout the season by their two All-Stars, Joe Johnson and Al Horford. Johnson scored 18.2 points per game, while Horford grabbed 9.3 rebounds per game. The Hawks were one of the better defensive teams in the league, allowing just shy of 96 points per game. While the Hawks won 9 less games then they did last season, they have already reached a further point in the postseason that 2010.
Chicago Bulls Overview:
The Chicago Bulls decided to play a smaller, but quicker team in the game five win over Atlanta. In doing that, the Bulls were able to guard the Hawks a little more effectively. In some of the tough times for the Bulls, they have found Carlos Boozer and even Joakim Noah having a tough time playing defense. The Bulls thrive on their defense, as they were the second best defensive team in the league; allowing 91.3 points per game.
The Bulls are proud of having the 2010 – 2011 Most Valuable Player from their home town; Chicago. Former one year star at Memphis Derrick Rose was named the MVP just a couple weeks ago. Rose scored 25 points and dished out 8 assists per game. Rose scored 33 in the game five win.
Hawks/Bulls Pick and Prediction:
The Hawks are desperate to find a way to win. Look for the Hawks to make the proper adjustments in this game and play much better. The home court advantage will certainly help Atlanta in this game. Chicago is -3.5 coming into this game, and we are going to go against them. Johnson and Crawford hit enough shots to lead the Atlanta Hawks to a win over the Chicago Bulls and force this series to a seventh game.
Our pick: Atlanta Hawks +3.5. Bet the Hawks at Sportingbet.
