Game: Chicago Bulls vs. Atlanta Hawks
Date/Time: Saturday March 12th, 2011 / 12:00pm AEST
The Chicago Bulls will host the Atlanta Hawks on Saturday in a key Eastern Conference game. The Bulls are on fire, and moved to second place in the Eastern Conference standings. Atlanta is looking to catch Orlando for the fourth seed in the Eastern Conference, chasing the Orlando Magic.
Chicago is coming off a win Wednesday night at Charlotte, while the Hawks lost Tuesday night to the Los Angeles Lakers. In the loss, Joe Johnson was held under his season average, and Atlanta had to grab 17 points from big man Al Horford.
Chicago Bulls Overview:
The Bulls are the second best rebounding team and the top defensive team in the NBA. Chicago is grabbing 44.3 rebounds per game, despite missing former Florida Gators star Joakim Noah. The Bulls defensively are allowing 91.4 points per game.
Derrick Rose is putting up Most Valuable Player type numbers this season. With his latest win over LeBron James and the Miami Heat, Rose has moved to the top of the ballots for most experts. Rose is scoring 24.5 points per game, and dishing out nearly 8 rebounds per game. Chicago will be without Carlos Boozer for nearly a month with a recent injury.
Atlanta Hawks Overview:
The Atlanta Hawks have had a hard time finding consistent offense. The Hawks rank 25th in the league, scoring just 95.7 points per game. Atlanta is allowing just 95.4 for a very slim margin of victory. Atlanta won 53 games last year, so it appears they will fall short of that this season.
Joe Johnson is Atlanta’s leading scorer with 19 points per game. Johnson is also dishing out 5.1 assists per game for the Hawks. Atlanta is looking to snap a three game losing streak.
This game should be fun. The Eastern Conference is very competitive, and these two teams have a shot at playing in the postseason. If New York and Philadelphia can catch the Hawks, and Chicago remains #2 this will be a first round battle. For the Bulls, playing at home is a huge advantage.
Look for the Bulls to shoot the ball well at the United Center. Johnson will get his points for the Hawks, but look for Chicago to come away with a double digit win. We are betting the Chicago Bulls in this one!
Our pick: The Chicago Bulls will win this game, and win big. Pick the Bulls -5.5. Bet the Bulls at Sportsbet.
