Game: Chicago Bulls vs. Miami Heat
Date/Time: Monday May 16th, 2011 / 10:00am AEST
The Eastern Conference Finals are set to begin. This should be a fantastic series featuring the top two teams in the Eastern Conference. The Bulls, as the top seed took care of the Indiana Pacers in five games, and then downed the Atlanta Hawks in six games. The Heat are the second seed and beat Philadelphia in five games and just topped off the defending Eastern Conference champion Celtics in five. During the regular season, the Chicago Bulls won all three games over the Miami Heat.
Chicago Bulls Overview:
The Chicago Bulls have the best player in the NBA during the regular season. Derrick Rose is the home town boy that would love nothing more than to be the last player since Michael Jordan to lead Chicago to the NBA Finals. ROse has done it all most of the season, scoring nearly 25 points per game, and dishing out 8 assists per game. Chicago did most of their damage on the defensive end; allowing just 91.3 points per game; which was second best in the league.
The Bulls won just 41 games the last two seasons. Chicago made efforts to sign LeBron James during the off-season, and also went after Dwyane Wade and even Chris Bosh. Who they did pick up – in Carlos Boozer has been a huge key to go along with Joakim Noah in the paint for the Bulls. Chicago was the second best rebounding team in the league; averaging just over 44 per game.
Miami Heat Overview:
The Miami Heat have had the pressure on them all year long. The “decision” made by LeBron James placed them in the eye of the storm for the entire season. Every win and every loss is multiplied buy the media and the doubters. Despite the pressure, Miami still won the Southwest Division over the Orlando Magic.
The Heat were led in scoring by James with his 26.7 per game. Dwyane Wade, scoring just under 20 points per game, made those two one of the top duo’s in the league. Chris Bosh was the man in the paint for Miami; as he grabbed nearly 8.5 rebounds per game. The Heat made the postseason the last two seasons; winning 43 and 47 games, but this years 58 pushed them to a #2 seed.
Bulls/Heat Pick and Prediction:
Wow – this is going to be an epic series. The Bulls have the advantage at the poing guard position and the center position. The Bulls have a better bench, and probably hte better head coach. Miami has the better off guard, and both forward positions. Miami’s players have been in bigger games a little more than Chicago. Derrick Rose is really good, but we don’t think he is good enough to beat the threesome of Bosh, James and Wade. Chicago is -2 in this game, but we are going to bet the Miami Heat +2.
Our pick: Miami Heat +2 over the Chicago Bulls. Bet the Miami Heat at Sportsbet.
