Game: Philadelphia 76ers vs. Miami Heat
Date/Time: Friday April 22nd, 2011 / 11:00am AEST
The Philadelphia 76ers and Miami Heat will get together for the third game of the best-of-seven series in the first round of the NBA playoffs. This game will be played at the Wells Fargo Arena, after the first two were played in Miami. The 76ers come into the game as the seventh seed in the East, while the Heat are seeded second. Miami leads the series 2-0.
Philadelphia 76ers Overview:
Philadelphia comes into the game, frustrated after two tough games in South Beach. In game two, the 76ers never really got back into the game, losing by 21 points. The 76ers finished the regular season just one game behind the Knicks in the Atlantic Division; for second place, and also sixth seed. The 76ers are coming off a 27-55 season; so the first season under Doug Collins has been considered a success.
Elton Brand has been the leading scorer and rebound man for the 76ers. Brand is scoring 15 points per game and ripping down 8 rebounds. The leading scorer for the past couple seasons, Andre Iguodala has been banged up all season; and is questionable for this game.
Miami Heat Overview:
The Miami Heat have started the postseason exactly like they needed to. With all the talk about their “dream team”, any loss during the season was magnified. A postseason loss would have been a nightmare for the Heat. Miami started slow in game one, but came back to win. Game two , LeBron James scored 29 points to lead the way.
James led the team during the regular season with 26.7 points per game and also 7 assists per game. Big man Chris Bosh was the third leading scorer, but the top rebound man for Miami. Last season, the Heat won just 47 games, so the 11 win improvement has been a big discussion in South Beach. The Heat offense scored nearly 103 points per game on the year.
The 76ers are going to be playing very hard to avoid going down 3-0 in the series. If Philadelphia wants any chance to win this series, they need to win this game. Miami, with all the drama around them also feel they need to win this game in a bad way. Miami is listed at -4.5, and we expect them to cover that spread. We are betting the Miami Heat -4.5.
Our pick: Miami Heat -4.5. Bet the Heat at Sportsbet.
