The Utah Jazz and Oklahoma City Thunder are set to tip it off Saturday night in Salt Lake City. Both teams play out of the Northwest Division, and vying for a divisional crown. The Jazz play late in the night against another divisional rival the Denver Nuggets. Coming into that game the Jazz are 29-21 for third place, while the Thunder are 32-17, and in first place.
The two teams have played twice this season, with both teams winning a game. On October 31st the Jazz won in Oklahoma City, 120-99. Then on November 15th, the Thunder downed the Jazz 115-108. The two teams will play again on March 23rd in Oklahoma City.
Utah Jazz Overview
The Jazz are led in scoring by point guard Deron Williams. The former Illini star is scoring 21.9 points per game and also dishing out nearly 10 assists per game. Utah ranks 2nd in the NBA, with 23.9 assists per game. The Jazz offensively are scoring 99.4 points per game, which is 13th in the league, while allowing 99.1.
Utah took a one point loss on Wednesday to the Houston Rockets. Overall, they have lost eight of their last ten. Jerry Sloan, the future hall of fame head coach has led Utah to 155 wins in the past three seasons.
Oklahoma City Thunder Overview
The Oklahoma City are led in scoring by the NBA’s leading scorer, Kevin Durant. The Thunder forward is scoring 29.3 points per game, including 43 against the Phoenix Suns on Friday night. Oklahoma City has won their last two games, to move to three games ahead of the Nuggets.
Oklahoma City comes into the game ranked fifth in the NBA, scoring 104.2 points per game. The defense for Oklahoma City is allowing 102.5 points per game, which ranks 21st in the league. The Thunder are also getting excellent production from point guard Russell Westbrook. Westbrook is scoring nearly 20 points per game and 10 assists per game.

When these two teams get together it’s nothing but exciting basketball. Both teams can put points on the board, and as many times as they have seen each other in the past; they know all the tendencies. Durant is the best player on the floor, but as a point guard Deron Williams can alter the path of the game.
