Game: Oklahoma City Thunder vs. Memphis Grizzlies
Date/Time: Thursday May 12th, 2011 / 11:30am AEST
After one of the best postseason games of all time in game four, the Oklahoma City Thunder and Memphis Grizzlies will get together for game five. The series is tied at two games a piece, which means this series has moved to best-of-three. The winner will take on the dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals. In the first round, Oklahoma City downed Denver, while the Grizzlies upset the top seeded San Antonio Spurs.
Oklahoma City Thunder Overview:
Oklahoma City went 55-27 during the regular season, which was their best record in franchise history. Last season the Thunder made the postseason and sent the eventual champion Lakers to the brink of elimination. The Thunder have a great young nuclues behind former Texas star Kevin Durant; who has led the league in scoring two straight seasons. Russell Westbrook has also emerged as a force, as the point guard.
Westbrook scored 40 points in the three overtime win in game four. On the season, Westbrook was the second leading scorer behind Durant, who was putting up 27.7 points per game. The Thunder were the fifth highest scoring team in the league; averaging just under 105 points per game. Oklahoma City won the Northwest Division by five games over the Denver Nuggets.
Memphis Grizzlies Overview:
Memphis was on the verge of taking a huge series lead in game four, but took a very emotional three overtime loss. The Grizzlies still feel they have what it takes to upend Oklahoma City. The Grizzlies made quick work of the top seeded Spurs in the first round; knocking them off in six games.
Zach Randolph has been the stud for the Grizzlies, scoring 34 in game four and just over 20 per game in the regular season. Randolph was also the top rebounder, as he grabbed 12.2 rebounds per game. The Grizzlies won 46 games, which was a +6 differential from a season ago. The Grizzlies tied for third in the Southwest Division.
Thunder/Grizzlies Pick and Prediction:
Wow, it’s pretty tough to top game four of this series. Look for these last two-three games to be very intense and very tight. The Thunder have the better team, and when the series comes down to it, Durant and company will show why they are the better team. Look for Durant to have a big game in this one and the Thunder to come away with their most comfortable win of the series. Oklahoma City is listed -6.5 and we are picking them to cover that spread. Bet Oklahoma City -6.5 over Memphis.
Our pick: Bet the Oklahoma City Thunder -6.5 over the Memphis Grizzlies. Bet the Thunder at Sportsbet.
