Week two of the 2017-18 Hyundai A-League played host to five exciting matches.
Adelaide United snatched victory from Brisbane Roar in stoppage time, earning a 2-1 victory at Suncorp Stadium on Friday night.
The Mariners and Wanderers played out an entertaining 2-2 draw on Saturday afternoon, while in the Melbourne derby, City got the better of Victory 2-1.
A pulsating clash on Sunday afternoon saw Adam Taggart come back to haunt his old side the Jets, as he scored a late goal to earn Perth Glory a 2-2 draw in Newcastle.
Sydney FC maintained their undefeated start to the season, with a 3-2 win over a gallant Wellington Phoenix on Sunday night.
Week three sees traditional rivals Adelaide United and Melbourne Victory square off on Friday night, as well as another instalment of the Sydney derby between Sydney FC and the Western Sydney Wanderers.
Adelaide United versus Melbourne Victory
Friday, 20 October 2017, 7:50pm AEDST at Adelaide Oval
Adelaide United were able to grab victory when all looked lost on Friday night, when they scored two late goals to defeat the Brisbane Roar 2-1.
Despite controlling possession throughout the contest, after conceding an early goal to Massimo Maccarone, Adelaide had few clear cut chances to equalise until the 88th minute, when Ryan Kitto netted United’s first goal.
A Johan Absalonsen stoppage time goal was enough to ensure Brisbane Roar would start the season 0-2.
The other 0-2 side in this year’s competition is Melbourne Victory. After a tough first up loss to Sydney FC, Victory were again unlucky not to come away with at least a point from Saturday night’s derby against City.
A deflected second half goal to Bruce Kamau was the difference between the two sides, with the winger netting his third goal in two games.
Adelaide will be hosting this match at Adelaide Oval, ensuring a bumper crowd will be on hand to cheer them on in their first home game of the new season.
Melbourne Victory will be determined not to start 0-3 this season, and their desperation should see them over the line in this one.

Sydney FC versus Western Sydney Wanderers
Saturday, 21 October 2017, 7:50pm at Allianz Stadium
Saturday night’s match of the round sees Sydney FC host the Western Sydney Wanderers in another instalment of the classic Sydney derby.
Sydney FC are undefeated against Western Sydney in 9 of their past 10 matches, their only blemish being a 1-0 loss in February this year.
The Wanderers have had an indifferent start to the 2017-18 season. The loss of coach Tony Popovic to Turkey had the potential to destabilise them, but galvanised them in their season opener against Perth Glory.
A last start draw against Central Coast would have disappointed coach Hayden Foxe, as the Wanderers had ample opportunity to earn a victory on Saturday afternoon.
Sydney FC defeated Wellington 3-2 on Sunday night, their third match in eight days after a 5-1 midweek win over South Melbourne FC.
The Sky Blues will be keen to continue their unbeaten start to the season, and it is hard to go past them in this fixture.
They have a historic edge over their cross town rivals and are arguably on the best run an A-League side has enjoyed in the history of this competition.

Brisbane Roar versus Newcastle Jets
Sunday, 22 October 2017, 5:00pm at Suncorp Stadium
Brisbane Roar will be desperate to get off the mark on Sunday afternoon when they host the Newcastle Jets at Suncorp Stadium.
Both of these teams were cruelled by stoppage time goals, with Adelaide defeating the Roar 2-1 last weekend and Newcastle settling for a 2-2 draw.
The Jets dominated the second half of their game against Perth and will be disappointed to have only come away with one point.
Coach Ernie Merrick has transformed the Jets’ game style, as they look a more threatening side going forward this season.
The Roar have appeared lethargic in their two matches to date, and will find Newcastle’s on ball pressure hard to handle on Sunday afternoon.
Best bet: Newcastle Jets to win at $2.90 at Sportsbet
