Round 12 concludes with the traditional Queens Birthday match between Melbourne and Collingwood, one of the most anticipated clashes between the sides in recent memory given their exceptional recent form.
Brisbane versus Essendon
Sunday, 10 June 2018 at 1.10pm AEST at the Gabba
A rare early Sunday afternoon match at the Gabba as the Lions host the Bombers, with both teams desperate for a win.
Essendon will head into the match as $1.62 favourites at Sportsbet, with the Lions $2.30 outsiders.
Brisbane were well beaten by North from the opening bounce last round, losing by nine goals. The same can be said for the Bombers, who apart from a rally in the second quarter were incredibly poor against the Tigers.
Brisbane will be without forward Charlie Cameron through injury, as well as Mitch Robinson, two big outs for the Lions.
Essendon defender Michael Hurley will play his 150th game for the club, as they have included ex-Lions forward Josh Green and former number four draft pick David Myers among their ins.
The Lions have won two of their past three matches against the Bombers, both in Melbourne, including an eight point win last season.
Essendon has won its past two matches at the Gabba and will be looking for another rare interstate win.
The loss of Cameron will be enormous for the Lions and although the Bombers have been far from impressive this season, they should beat this Lions side.
Best bet- Essendon Big Win Little Win 1-39 at $2.25
Fremantle versus Adelaide
Sunday, 10 June 2018 at 4.40pm AEST at Optus Stadium
The Dockers and Crows are both in need of a win as they sit outside the top eight.
Fremantle will be without suspended captain Nat Fyfe, but welcome back ruckman Aaron Sandilands and forwards Hayden Ballantyne and Cam McCarthy.
Despite the Crows poor form, they will start as $1.36 favourites, with the Dockers $3.16 outsiders.
The Crows injury curse continues, as they are without Tom Lynch and Rory Laird this week. Captain Taylor Walker has been included in the extended squad, as the desperate Crows look to get their season back on track.
Adelaide has a commanding recent record against Fremantle, winning the past three matches between the sides, including a 100-point thumping last season at the Adelaide Oval.
Fremantle are struggling for form at the moment, once again thumped on the road last weekend against Collingwood, in a match where they showed little resistance.
Adelaide are in a rut, but this is just the sort of opponent they need to turn their season around.
The Crows should get home narrowly.
Best bet- Adelaide Big Win Little Win 1-39 at $1.91
Melbourne versus Collingwood
Monday, 11 June 2018 at 3.20pm AEST at the MCG
The Demons are looking for seven wins in a row when they face Collingwood at the MCG on Monday afternoon.
The Pies themselves have won three on the trot and are $2.40 underdogs for this Queens Birthday clash.
The Demons are $1.58 favourites at Sportsbet and have had a dominant past six weeks, dispatching teams with ease.
The same can be said for the Pies, with their 7-4 record surprising many.
Their past three wins have been against teams they have been expected to beat in St Kilda, the Western Bulldogs and Fremantle, but they have beaten them nonetheless.
This match provides a test for both sides and will provide a gauge on the seriousness of their credentials.
Melbourne have also had a relatively easy run of late, with this match sure to provide Simon Goodwin’s charges with some much needed big-game experience.
Melbourne forward Christian Petracca plays his 50th game, with the only bad news for Melbourne recently being the ACL injury suffered by recruit Jake Lever in last weekend’s win against the Dogs.
The Pies have named an extended bench and will welcome back Jeremy Howe.
The Dees have been electric recently and we will bank on them to continue that winning streak.
Best bet- Melbourne Big Win Little Win 1-39 at $2.20
