AFL Round 15 Thursday, Friday and Saturday Specials

Wed, Jun 27, 8:24am by Staff Writer

Round 15 of the 2018 AFL season begins on Thursday, with a top of the table clash between Richmond and Sydney at Etihad Stadium.

Saturday’s matches are headlined by a must-win match for the Crows, as they host the Eagles in Adelaide, with both sides possessing losing streaks after a poor run of form.

Richmond versus Sydney

Thursday, 28 June 2018 at 7.20pm AEST at Etihad Stadium

The Tigers and Swans meet in a potential Grand Final preview on Thursday night at Etihad Stadium.

The Tigers go into the match as $1.60 favourites at Sportsbet, with the Swans $2.35 outsiders.

Richmond managed a narrow win against North Melbourne earlier this season at Etihad Stadium, but would much prefer this crucial clash was being played at the MCG.

The last time these two sides met was in round 13 last season, where the Swans were nine point winners.

The Tigers have won three of the past five games between the sides, but the Swans have won the last two.

Little will separate the sides on Thursday night, with both possessing lethal forward prowess and a strong midfield.

Sydney has a slight advantage in defence and enjoy playing under the roof at Etihad Stadium.

The Swans are great value in the margin market to win this game by a small margin and will move to the top of the ladder with a win.

Best bet- Sydney Big Win Little Win 1-39 at $2.60

Carlton versus Port Adelaide

Saturday, 30 June 2018 at 1.45pm AEST at the MCG

Port Adelaide are on the cusp of the top four, after an impressive month of football where they have defeated Melbourne and Richmond.

The Power are short priced favourites to beat the Blues who are on the bottom of the ladder.

Port are priced at $1.11 at Sportsbet, with Carlton $6.50 outsiders.

The line for this match is 38.5 points, favouring Port Adelaide at $1.90.

Carlton has played well in patches this season, but have shown that they are capable of throwing in a very bad performance more often than not.

Their insipid first half a fortnight ago against Fremantle, where they conceded 12 goals and scored none was an example of this.

Port Adelaide are one of the most in form teams in the competition at the moment, behind their gritty defence and hard-nosed attack on the ball.

Contested possession has been a trademark of Port’s play recently and they should sweep aside the hapless Blues.

A win against the Blues should be a formality and the Power to cover the 38.5-point handicap is the best option in this match.

Best bet- Port Adelaide to cover the 38.5-point handicap at $1.90

Adelaide versus West Coast

Saturday, 30 June 2018 at 4.35pm AEST at the Adelaide Oval

The Crows are two games outside the top eight and last season’s Grand Finalist’s are playing their worst football for many years.

Adelaide has lost its past four games, including a 56 point thumping by the Hawks in their last game.

They are $1.80 favourites to defeat the Eagles on Saturday, despite their poor run of form.

The Eagles are $2.02 outsiders, with bookmakers seeing their struggles in round 14 against the Bombers, where they were short-priced favourites and lost by 28 points.

West Coast will be without Jack Darling and Josh Kennedy once again, with their offensive output a huge concern.

The Crows will be without one of their most prolific goal scorers in Eddie Betts who is out for four weeks.

It is difficult to justify trusting the Crows to win based on their recent form, given that they have struggled at home and on the road.

Contrastingly, the Eagles played well against the Swans in defeat before their poorest performance of the season against the Bombers, 14 rounds into the season.

West Coast are the more complete side, with the Crows looking out of ideas recently.

Best bet- West Coast Big Win Little Win 1-39 at $2.40

Collingwood ($1.11) and Geelong ($1.20) are short-priced favourites to notch another victory in 2018 against poorer opposition in the Suns and Dogs.

One of the closest games of the round takes place in Sydney, with the Giants narrow favourites at $1.80 against the visiting Hawks who are paying $2.02.
