The AFLW season is heating up and this weekend sees some interesting matchups to further clarify the finals position with three rounds of regular season action.
Last weekend saw some stunning results led by the Western Bulldogs’ utterly dominant 73-point victory over Carlton and Collingwood surprising premiership fancy Melbourne by 34 points to record their first victory of the season.
With Collingwood’s victory, each team in the competition has recorded wins this season and all eight teams remain a possible chance of reaching the finals.
Melbourne Demons v Brisbane Lions
Third placed Melbourne take on second placed Brisbane in the headline clash of the round this Friday night at Casey Fields.
The Lions enter the contest the better side in the win-loss record this season, where, along with the Western Bulldogs, they are one of the two sides boasting a 3-1 record after four games.
The Demons lead a pack of three clubs, the others being Fremantle and Carlton, holding a 2-2 record and will be keen to get a win here to solidify their position within the top four.
Melbourne are a clear $1.67 favourite to get the win over the Lions with Brisbane rated a $2.21 chance for victory.
Expect Melbourne to win a close game in an exciting Friday night contest.
Suggested Bet: Melbourne Demons by 1-24 (Winning Margin) @ $2.20
Fremantle Dockers v GWS Giants
Fourth placed Fremantle host sixth placed GWS in an exciting fixture at Fremantle Oval this Saturday afternoon.
Both sides didn’t emerge victorious in round 4, with Fremantle losing a close encounter to Brisbane by seven points. GWS on the other hand didn’t end round 4 a winner, but left their contest with last year’s premier Adelaide in a 19-19 draw, splitting the points.
The Dockers have the perfect opportunity to consolidate their top four positioning here and are priced a $1.66 favourite with the Giants a $2.23 chance.
Fremantle look set to come out a narrow but clear winner in this one.
Suggested Bet: Fremantle Dockers by 1-39 (Big Win Little Win) @ $1.72
