HEARTBREAK in more ways than one.
That’s the only way you can describe what happened in yesterday’s multi of the day.
Everything was looking cherry ripe leading into Thursday night.
The first three legs of our four-leg multi were going swimmingly.
Sevilla and Benfica both went scoreless in regular time in the Europa League Final. The Montreal Canadeans saluted over Boston, paying $2.60. The Yankees were too strong for the Mets, as predicted.
It all came down to Collingwood covering a -13.5 line against Adelaide on AFL Thursday.
Collingwood were coming off four wins in a row and Adelaide had just lost to one of the worst teams in the competition in Melbourne. The -13.5 line being offered by the bookies looked like some kind of mistake – we had genuinely thought Collingwood at the line was one of the bets of the week.
Well, it appears no one told Collingwood they were suppose to win.
The Magpies were sluggish, sloppy and despite leading early, were pathetic after half time.
As Adelaide took over in the second half, the multi went to ruin.
Now we understand why everyone hates Collingwood so much…
Despite the fact that this is a multi that you would have to put on with one online bookmaker, AustralianGambling has still gone through the trouble of finding you the best odds for each individual leg, just in case you want to bet on them independantly.
Opening multiple online accounts costs nothing, so make sure you’re always taking home the biggest profits!
But for now, it’s time to bounce back and find some winners for the weekend.
AFL Friday – Essendon vs. Sydney
The Swans knocked over the reigning premiers last week and still look like they have plenty of room to improve, as their fearsome forward line makes its way down to Melbourne. The Bombers have claimed two eight-point wins in the last fortnight, but did so in very unconvincing fashion, and are struggling to find the big sticks. They have averaged just nine goals per game over their last five matches and against Franklin, Tippet, Reid and Goodes, that form simply won’t hold up. Swans to win at $1.38 with Sportsbet.
AFL Saturday – North Melbourne vs. Brisbane
The Kangaroos have a habit of beating up on weaker teams before falling over against the better teams. The Lions are certainly one of these weaker teams and I expect the Roos to have far too much firepower and, with the match being played on the fast track at Etihad Stadium, this could get ugly.
Doomben Saturday races – Race 5
He is a classy animal and he comes into this race having won a trial. He is unbeaten when racing fresh and he already has two Group Three titles to his name. He should win but his place price is too good to pass up.
The Indians have been an up-and-down ball club to start off its 2014 campaign thus far, but, at home against Oakland, we’re tipping they’re due for an up. Cleveland’s bats have come alive of late – they smashed 15 runs in a thorough dismantling of Toronto two games ago and we expect that hot form to continue here.
– Swans to win, paying $1.38
– North Melbourne to cover the 49.5 line against Brisbane, paying $1.92
– Hucklebuck to win, paying $2.80
– Cleveland to beat Oakland, paying $2.12
Combined multi total: $15.72 at Sportsbet.com.au
