Two blockbuster matches headline this weekend’s KFC Big Bash League action, with the Melbourne Renegades hosting the Melbourne Stars and the Adelaide Strikers hosting the Perth Scorchers.
Melbourne Renegades versus Melbourne Stars
Friday, 12 January 2018 at 7.40pm AEDST
The Renegades lost from a seemingly impossible position on Monday night when they faced the Scorchers. After setting a total of 185 runs, the Scorchers chased down the largest ever total at the WACA to win with two balls to spare.
The Melbourne Stars winless start to the season continues as they are 0-5 after five matches. The Stars were never in the game against the Strikers on Tuesday night and are having their worst season ever in the Big Bash.
They now lose Marcus Stoinis, Adam Zampa and Glen Maxwell to One Day International duty for Australia, further weakening an already thin squad.
This match will be at Etihad Stadium, which is sure to be at near capacity for the second Melbourne derby in as many weeks.
Last weekend it was the Renegades who dominated with the bat at the MCG and we expect a similar result on Friday night.
New Renegades captain Cameron White is the second leading run scorer in the BBL and should have himself a big night with the bat.

Value bet- Cameron White top Renegades runscorer at $3.50 at Sportsbet
Adelaide Strikers versus Perth Scorchers
Saturday, 13 January 2018 at 4.10pm AEDST
The first Big Bash match in Alice Springs takes place on Saturday afternoon when the Adelaide Strikers host the Perth Scorchers.
This top of the table clash will test the title credentials of the Strikers, who have been the competitions surprise packet this season.
The Scorchers continue to win games, with only a sole loss to the Brisbane Heat blemishing their BBL07 record.
Perth has traditionally won games with the ball, but the bat was their saviour on Monday night against the Renegades.
Ashton Turner hit 70 runs off 32 balls in a match winning display.
Perth have been underdogs in all but one of their matches this season, which is staggering given their superb form.
They enter this match as $2.15 underdogs and based on form, it is hard to pass up the Scorchers at this price.
Best bet- Perth Scorchers to win at $2.15 at Sportsbet
Sydney Sixers versus Sydney Thunder
Saturday, 13 January 2018 at 7.25pm AEDST
The second instalment of the Sydney derby for BBL07 sees the Sixers host the Thunder at the SCG.
In the first match of the season, the Thunder surprised the Sixers with a one run win in a low scoring contest.
We expect this match to follow a similar pattern, and be dominated by the Thunder’s three-pronged spin attack.
The Thunder welcome back test batsman Usman Khawaja fresh off scoring 171 runs in the 5th Ashes test and his pairing with the Thunder’s leading batsman Shane Watson will be crucial to the Thunder’s hopes on Saturday night.
The Sixers are winless through six matches and this presents the best chance for the men in pink to get a win this season.
After making last season’s final, the Sixers have been abysmal with bat and ball this season, failing to defend totals or set challenging scores for their opponents.
They will be hungry to avenge their opening night loss to the Thunder, but based on form, it is hard to pick the Sixers at the generous odds of $2.
Instead we are backing the Thunder to sweep the season series against the Sixers.
Best bet- Sydney Thunder to win at $1.80 at Sportsbet
