Melbourne racing is at Caulfield on Saturday where the rail is out nine-metres and the track a good-4.
The Listed WJ Adams Stakes (1000m) is one of the features for the day with a field of seven to line up.
Snitty Kitty ($2.05) has won six from her 11 career starts with five from her last seven over her past two campaigns. Resuming here, she’s won two from three when fresh, three from five at the track and four from five over the 1000m.
Crystal Dreamer ($5) has won ten from 22 overall and is vying from three-in-a-row with her most recent victory over Danuki and Thermal Current ($7.50) at Caulfield over 1100m. Stable mate Nasdex ($7.50) is building a similar record to Crystal Dreamer with seven wins from his 15 starts and two from his past three.
Palazzo Pubblico ($7) was third down the Flemington straight during the carnival with a last start third to Memes in the Summer Sprint (1000m) at Randwick and while she’s been out of the winners’ circle since October 2016 she’s had some early support for Saturday.
The Group 3 Manfred Stakes (1200m) is another black type feature for the day, with 12 accepting for the race.
Crystal Spirit ($11) has the one win – a Pakenham maiden – next to his name but has run second at six of his eight starts. In a similar vein, stable mate Prezado ($3.50) has the one win and three seconds from his five starts – his most recent run when within three-quarters of a length to the highly-touted Nature Strip in the Inglis Dash (1100m). Brave Tango ($4) was third in the Inglis Dash with two wins and two placings from his four starts.
Veranillo ($15) is second-up after a second at Ballarat when an odds-on favourite and is also an acceptor in Sydney (in BM78 grade). I Did It Again ($5.50) was solid in the market when last of nine in the G3 Blue Sapphire (1200m) of the spring, at what was his third career start.
Cliff’s Edge ($10) resumes from a successful campaign which saw him win three from eight including a G3 Norm Robinson over 2000m while stable mate Poseidon’s Pool ($16) has won two from four and was third to Jukebox in the G3 Vain stakes (1100m) before finishing last in the G3 McNeil (1200m) at his next start, beaten under 7L.
Kentucky Breeze ($13) for Levi Kavanagh is undefeated in his two career runs with a last start Listed win down the Flemington straight on Stakes day with Muraqueeb ($10) second on that occasion and he’s also lining up here.
Suggested Bet: Hoping Bedford ($2,25, race 7, number 9) can keep his perfect 2000m record intact and make it back-to-back wins on Saturday. The four-year-old gelding has won two from his past three and both times he’s been at the 2000m, he’s won – his most recent a few weeks ago when bolting in by 6L. Down on the limit with Damian Lane to pilot, he should be hard to hold out.
