Cowboys and Prescott eye 11th heaven against faltering Vikings

Wed, Nov 30, 5:58pm by Head Editor

Preview: NFL Week Thirteen: Dallas Cowboys @ Minnesota Vikings

Date and Time: Friday December 2, 12:25pm AEDT

Venue: U.S. Bank Stadium, Minnesota

TV: Live on ESPN

After playing games on Thanksgiving Day, Dallas and Minnesota will play on a Thursday (Friday AEDT) for the second week in a row.  The Cowboys are looking to take one more step towards securing home-field advantage throughout the playoffs and in the process, they could severely damage Minnesota’s playoff chances with a win on the road in this one.

If you saw these odds even a month ago, you would have thought it was a joke with the Vikings starting the season with five straight wins. They now find themselves as underdogs ($2.45) at home after their season has hit the skids, falling to 6-5. The Cowboys on the other hand are flying and are $1.58 favourite to make it 11 straight wins. The line is at a field goal.

WATCH: Oddsshark’s Preview of Cowboys v Vikings

Behind arguably the NFL’s worst offensive line, the Vikings have the league’s last-ranked rushing attack. They average just 71.1 rushing yards per game on 2.8 yards per carry, and the combination of Jerick McKinnon and Matt Asiata could struggle against the league’s third ranked run defence.

The best chance the Vikings have of pulling off an upset is if they force multiple turnovers, but the Cowboys aren’t likely to beat themselves as they are one of only two teams who have fewer turnovers than Minnesota.

Rookies Dak Prescott and Ezekiel Elliott continued to look like top MVP candidates in Dallas’ most recent win. The quarterback posted a 108.9 passer rating with two scores and the running back totalled 120 yards from scrimmage with two touchdowns of his own.

That win over Washington leaves Dallas just a few victories away from securing the best record in the NFC and I’m backing the red-hot Cowboys to make it eleven straight in this one.

Prescott just continues to impress and is surely one of the stories of the season, currently sitting on top of ESPN’s total quarterback rankings.
