Adelaide and Brisbane will look to continue their unbeaten starts to the season in the fourth round of the AFLW competition.
Adelaide go in as favourites ($1.41), to make it a quadrella of wins when they travel to Fremantle for the last game of the round on Sunday.
Fremantle are $2.90 to win after playing out the first ever draw in the league’s history against the Giants on Saturday. Amazingly, the first ever men’s draw, on June the 22nd, 1897 (yes, 1897), had the exact same score of 43 points each. Spooky stuff.
The Lions, who weren’t given much chance before the season began, won a nail-biter over the Pies on Saturday, with former Australian representative sprinter Kate McCarthy, kicking arguably the goal of the season so far for the Lions.
The Demons could be good value here, they’ve won their last two games and in the process found a new avenue to goal with Alyssa Mifsud slotting three crucial goals in last week’s 14-point win over the Bulldogs.
On top of that, Carlton’s backline will be weakened by a back injury to marquee player Brianna Davey, and fellow defender Sarah Last’s season-ending knee injury.
The Dogs need to bounce back against the last-placed Magpies if they want to be part of the finals action. They are currently fifth on the ladder, with a 1-2 win-loss record. The top two after seven rounds go through to a Grand Final.
The Dogs will need to better than they were last week at the same venue though, as the Collingwood outfit they are up against are improving each week and fell agonisingly short of the unbeaten Lions last week.
Suggested Bet: Melbourne to beat Carlton: $2.15
