EPL Outright Markets Update for Week of February 12

Tue, Feb 13, 1:13am by Staff Writer

An incredible weekend of EPL action saw Manchester City edge even closer to the title, with closest rivals Manchester United once again dropping points away from home to one of the lower placed sides in the league.

City emphatically brushed aside Leicester City at the Etihad courtesy of four goals from Sergio Aguero. Despite drawing 1-1 at half time, Aguero made the most of the second half to give his side a 5-1 victory. A result, coupled with United’s loss, that moved them 16 points clear at the top of EPL. They shortened to $1.005 to wrap up the title this season.

Jose Mourinho’s Man United failed to keep up with City as they went down 1-0 to strugglers Newcastle United. The Red Devils were unable to make the most of the few chances they had and must now give up any hope of catching City. With only 11 games remaining in the EPL, they will need a miracle to do so priced at $61. The focus for Man United must be a top four finish which they currently stand at $1.12 to achieve.

Indeed, the race for the top four and a place in next season’s Champions League will be the top priority for those clubs chasing City.

Liverpool boosted their hopes with an impressive away win at Southampton. Goals from Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah ensured that they took the opportunity to move up to third in the league only two points behind United. They are priced at $1.12 to finish in the top four.

The north London derby is always a contest not to be missed, as Arsenal take on Spurs. It was Harry Kane’s Tottenham who came away with the win as he scored the only goal of the match. Arsenal missed several opportunities to score and may well rue them at the end of the season. The result left Arsenal seven points off the top priced at $14 to reach it, whilst Spurs stand at $1.33 to secure Champions League qualification.

Chelsea round out the sides still in contention for the top four and are priced at $1.91.

Newcastle’s won over Man Utd has given them a huge lifeline in the battle at the bottom of the EPL to avoid relegation. Although they sit in 13th place in the league, they remain only two points above the drop zone currently occupied by Southampton ($4.20), Stoke City ($1.67) and West Brom ($1.36). With the north east side priced at $4.50 to go down.

A point for Stoke and Brighton did little to ease the pressure on them as they struggle to retain their place in the EPL. After only being promoted last season, Brighton will not want to drop back into the Championship so quickly. Yet they stand at $3.10.

Huddersfield appear to be among the favourites for relegation despite a thrilling 4-1 victory over Bournemouth this weekend. They are only one point clear of the drop at the moment and priced at $1.91.
