The third and final round of 32 matchday of the FFA Cup continues on Tuesday night, with six matches taking place.
The reigning A-League Champions Melbourne Victory take the pitch for their first competitive outing of the season, when they head west to take on Perth Glory.
It’s been a big week for the Champions with coach Kevin Muscat and chairman Anthony Di Pietro announcing to the media on Monday that former Milan midfielder Keisuke Honda would be the club’s marquee player for the upcoming season.
Honda has represented his native Japan 98 times at International level and found the back of the net at the recently completed World Cup in Russia.
He won’t take the pitch in Perth on Tuesday but the biggest signing for the A-League since David Villa is expected to arrive in Melbourne next week.
It’s an even betting match for Victory’s trip to Perth, with the Victorian side and Glory both at the odds of $2.40 to take out the win inside 90 minutes.
The other Victorian club, Melbourne City, are also on the road on Tuesday night, in the evening’s other all A-League encounter.
City head to the Queensland capital to take on Brisbane Roar and are a slight favourite at $2.10 to progress to the final 16 for the fourth year in a row. The hosts are $2.88.
The biggest outsider of the night takes the pitch just down the toad on the Gold Coast, when the Knights, who play in the second top tier in Queensland, are at the huge odds of $18 to topple last season’s A-League runners-up, the Newcastle Jets ($1.07).
In Melbourne, Northcote City are $1.72 to defeat the Devonport Strikers ($3.60) despite sitting near the foot of the NPL Victoria ladder in the night’s only all-NPL clash.
In the night’s other clash in the Victorian capital, Wellington Phoenix ($1.62) head to Kingston Heath to take on Bentleigh Greens ($4.33) while the conditions will be vastly different in Darwin, when Hellenic AC host Western Sydney Wanderers.
