Lewis Hamilton has extended his lead at the top of the Drivers Championship after an impressive victory in the Spanish Grand Prix last weekend.
Hamilton put in a dominant performance at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya to take a commanding 17 point lead in the Championship after five races.
The Mercedes driver is now $1.53 to win the Drivers Championship at Sportsbet, ahead of Ferrari’s Sebastian Vettel.
Vettel who finished fourth in Azerbaijan a fortnight ago was once again kept off the podium in Spain, registering a fourth placed finish.
He is now $3 to win the Drivers Championship and is by far and away Hamilton’s nearest and only genuine challenger.
Rising star Valtteri Bottas helped secure a one-two for Mercedes in Spain as he finished second for the third time this season.
Despite a poor race in Baku, Bottas has finished second in three of his past four races and has shown excellent consistency for Mercedes this season.
The Fin is $21 to win the Drivers Championship and trails Hamilton by 37 points already this season.
Dutchman Max Verstappen made it onto the podium for the first time this season in Spain in a turbulent season thus far for the Red Bull Racing driver. A pair of retirements have hampered Verstappen’s season thus far and he trails Hamilton in the Drivers Championship by a significant margin already this season. He remains fourth best in the betting market at a huge $41.
Australian Daniel Ricciardo put a turbulent Azerbaijan race behind him, where a collision with fellow Red Bull driver Sebastian Vettel dominated post-race headlines.
Ricciardo finished fifth in Spain and despite winning the Chinese Grand Prix last month has failed to produce quality driving in the other four races so far this season.
He is equal fourth favourite for the Drivers Championship at $41.
Among the other drivers in the Championship this season, veteran Kimi Raikkonen remains in striking distance of Hamilton, although he is 47 points behind the Englishman.
A retirement in Spain and Bahrain this season has hampered any chance Raikkonen has had of putting early season pressure on Hamilton. In his other three races, the veteran Fin has recorded three podium finishes. He is a $51 shot at winning the Drivers Championship.
The Constructors Championship market is dominated by Mercedes after their dual podium finish in Spain. They are $1.30 to take out the crown and have accumulated 153 points after five races.
Mercedes are 27 points ahead of their nearest challenger Ferrari who are on 126 points and are $3.50 to win the constructors title.
Red Bull Racing at $26 is next best on 80 points.
The next Formula 1 race takes place in Monaco beginning on 25 May, with Sebastian Vettel the early favourite at $2.50 ahead of Lewis Hamilton at $2.88.
