Three games down in the five match one day series and three games to England.
Like the Australians in the Ashes, the series has been clinched before the fourth game. In the fourth test, an Alastair Cook double century proved vital in ensuring England didn’t go 4-0 in the series. Can Australia have a saviour of their own to ensure they avoid a fourth consecutive defeat?
The Australia Day fixture holds a special place in the Australian cricket summer and the home side will be keen to deliver on their national day.
The previous game saw England’s late innings firepower of Jos Buttler, who scored an unbeaten century and all rounder Chris Woakes with an unbeaten half century, take their team score to over 300, which proved 16 runs too much for the Australians.
Australia have not been able to get the most of their top order, with Aaron Finch the only bright spot in their top four. With the series already decided, will the home side go with experimenting with their line up in a bid to get a victory?
Cameron White at number 3 is an interesting one. His 17 off 25 balls may be enough to keep him in the same position. If you have faith in White delivering in national colours on Australia Day, you can get him at $6.00 for Top Australia Runscorer and $13.00 for Man of the Match.
If you believe local lad Travis Head will get selected in his home fixture and deliver, you can also get him at $6.00 for Top Australia Runscorer and a more generous $18.00 for Man of the Match.
England has yet to see their skipper Eoin Morgan in full flight this series but his scores have trended up, with 1, 21 and then 41 across the first three games. At $8.50 for Top England Runscorer, he presents solid value. If England are to lose a couple of early wickets, Morgan may need to play a long innings. Like Travis Head, he is also paying $18.00 for Man of the Match.
As far as the contest goes, after three defeats I believe the home side is due to turn the tables and the Australia Day fixture is a perfect time for this to occur. At $1.77 for the win, they are paying the most generous odds to date in the series. For value, Cameron White for Man of the Match at $13.00 is worth a look. To hold his position within the ODI set up, he will need to make a statement and this is the perfect time for him.
Suggested Bet: Cameron White – Man of the Match @$13.
