JLT Community Series Week Two: Preview, Odds and Best Bets

Fri, Mar 2, 2:11am by Staff Writer

The JLT Community Series enters its second week and this weekend sees the remaining six teams in the competition take the field with three games to be played across Saturday and Sunday.

Western Bulldogs v Hawthorn Hawks

Two sides who share four of the past five AFL premierships will have their first hit out of the season on Saturday afternoon at Ballarat’s Mars Stadium.

Western Bulldogs hosted one home game at the ground last season, their round 22 fixture against Port Adelaide, where the Power emerged victorious by 17 points.

With both sides failing to play finals football last season, both will be keen to start their 2018 campaign with a good start and give good playing time to their respective lists.

New signings for both clubs will be unveiled with Doggies signings Jackson Trengove from Port Adelaide, Hayden Crozier from Fremantle and former Brisbane Lion Josh Schache named in their playing list with Jarman Impey from Port Adelaide set to play his first game in Hawthorn colours.

The Bulldogs enter the clash at $1.70 to salute with the Hawks priced a $2.16 chance.

Expect a competitive clash between both sides with the Doggies to finish strong and come away with the win.

Suggested Bet: Western Bulldogs to win (Head to Head) @ $1.70

Gold Coast Suns v Geelong Cats

The Gold Coast Suns will host the Geelong Cats this Sunday afternoon at Riverway Stadium in Townsville.

Missing from the contest will be former Sun and favourite son Gary Ablett, who has returned back to his original AFL club this season and won’t be taking the field for Geelong this game along with fellow Cats stars Joel Selwood and Patrick Dangerfield.

New Gold Coast coach Stuart Dew will be at the helm for the first time and will be hoping to get his side off to a winning start against last year’s preliminary finalists.

The Suns will also unveil former Fremantle Docker Lachie Weller this weekend who will make his first appearance for the club in the contest.

Expect Gold Coast to put on an impressive showing in their first game under Stuart Dew and for them to come home with a narrow victory.

Suggested Bet: Gold Coast by 1-39 (Big Win Little Win) @ $2.60

Weekend Odds

Western Bulldogs ($1.70) v Hawthorn Hawks ($2.16)
Brisbane Lions ($3.52) v Sydney Swans ($1.30)
Gold Coast Suns ($2.08) v Geelong Cats ($1.75)
