Sydney FC continued their dominance at the top of the 2017-18 A-League table last weekend with a comprehensive 6-0 win against Perth Glory.
The six-goal margin is the biggest differential in the 2017-18 season, with Perth capitulating under immense pressure and conceding five second half goals.
Sydney remains steady in outright betting at $2.20 to win the 2017-18 A-League at Sportsbet.
Perth continues to remain inconsistent away from home and have drifted from $15 to $19 to win the title at Sportsbet.
Despite losing earlier this season 5-2 to the lowly Wellington Phoenix, this loss was far worse for Glory.
They showed little attacking intent and as the game wore on, allowed Sydney FC too much time and space and were duly punished for their poor defensive structure.
Melbourne Victory have notched up three consecutive victories after a 2-1 win against the Newcastle Jets on Friday night.
Victory have been the biggest movers in the outright market this week, coming in from $6 to $5 to take outright position as second favourite to win the 2017-18 title.
Despite missing a second-half penalty, which would have all but guaranteed victory, Melbourne were solid in defence and deserving of their win.
Ahead of a match on Wednesday night against Sydney FC, Newcastle remains steady at $5.50 to win the title.
That price is sure to fluctuate depending on how the Jets perform against the reigning champions in round 14.
The biggest upset of round 13 came when the Brisbane Roar defeated Adelaide Untied 2-0.
The Roar were ahead 2-0 before a moment of madness from captain Matt McKay resulted in a red card just before half-time.
Despite defending with 10 men, the Roar held on for a 2-1 win, their third of the season.
Brisbane’s win resulted in their outright price moving from $61 to $41 this week at Sportsbet, as they are only three points away from a finals position.
Adelaide will be disappointed to have not come away from Saturday afternoon’s match with at least a point, but were soundly beaten on the counter attack.
The Reds odds of winning the 2017-18 title have drifted from $15 to $18 at Sportsbet, as they cling to their position in the top six.
The Central Coast Mariners and Wellington Phoenix played out a 0-0 draw on New Years Eve, with the Mariners having the better of the chances in that match.
Both of these teams are not figuring strongly in the outright market, with the Mariners at $81 to win the title and the Phoenix at $501 at Sportsbet.
Melbourne City were again disappointing on New Years Day against a Western Sydney Wanderers side that has been struggling for form.
After being second favourites to win the competition for much of the season, City has seen a drift in the outright market from $5.50 out to $6.50 this week.
Melbourne conceded two goals in quick succession in the first half and weren’t able to create quality opportunities against what has been a porous Wanderers defence this season.
The Wanderers win has seen their outright price come in from $17 to $15, but they will need to do a lot more in coming games to show that this wasn’t just a fluke win, as they have been very disappointing all season long.
