Sydney FC continue to reign supreme at the top of the A-League table, five points clear of the improved Newcastle Jets.
Melbourne City, Adelaide United, Melbourne Victory and Perth Glory round out the top six, with the seventh placed Mariners four points adrift of the top four.
Melbourne Victory versus Newcastle Jets
Friday, 29 December 2017 at 7.50pm AEDST
Melbourne Victory have notched up consecutive victories for the first time all season during the past fortnight, with wins against the Brisbane Roar and Melbourne City.
The Jets continue to go from strength to strength, having easily dispatched the Western Sydney Wanderers 4-0 last weekend.
In their earlier meeting this season, a Mark Milligan red card mid-way during the first half proved game changing
With the scores locked at 1-1, the Jets went on to romp home 4-1 against what was a slumping Victory team.
Melbourne Victory has appeared more composed in recent weeks, while the Jets have continued to score goals at will.
The Victory appear too short in this match at $2 against a quality Jets team.
We are going to take our chances with the draw market, paying $3.60 at Sportsbet.
More conservative punters would be interested in the double change market where a Newcastle Jets win or a draw pays $1.72
Best bet- Melbourne Victory and Newcastle Jets draw at $3.60
Adelaide United versus Brisbane Roar
Saturday, 30 December 2017 at 5.35pm AEDST
Adelaide United ground out a 1-0 victory over the Central Coast Mariners on Boxing Day, cementing the Reds inside the top four.
The Roar were once again left ruing a host of missed chances during the first half as they fell to the Perth Glory 2-1 after two goals in the final ten minutes by the Glory.
Adelaide United have more attacking threats in their team, compared to a Roar side which has only scored multiple goals three times in 12 matches this season.
Adelaide have had an indifferent home record this season, but have beaten some of the league’s lesser lights and boast a 2-1 win over the Roar earlier this season, thanks to two late goals.
Adelaide United offer value at $2 at Sportsbet and that’s our bet in this match up.
Best bet- Adelaide United to win at $2
Western Sydney Wanderers versus Melbourne City
Monday, 1 January 2018 at 7.50pm AEDST
The Western Sydney Wanderers have been the most disappointing team in the 2017-18 A-League, conceding goals at will.
Last weekend the Wanderers leaked four goals and just a fortnight prior, conceded five in the Sydney Derby.
Melbourne City has had a good defensive record in matches this season, but scoring goals has been their issue.
Outside of free kick specialist Ross McCormack, City has struggled for goals from open play.
The fact that City are $2.50 to win this match against a Wanderers team that has played down to Wellington’s level in recent times is astonishing.
While City’s away record isn’t pretty, a match against a fading Wanderers team should provide this Melbourne City team with the boost it needs to kick start the New Year.
Best bet- Melbourne City to win at $2.50
A-League Round 12 Odds
