Now that things have settled down after the buzz of the US elections, mid-week NBA action is back. At www.australiangambling.lv, we’ve picked out the best bets for the coming days of hardcourt action. ESPN in Australia are showing four games live on Thursday and Friday Australian time.
Golden State Warriors @ Toronto Raptors
Venue: Toronto Air Centre, Toronto
Date and Time: Thursday November 18, 12.00pm AEDT
TV: Live on ESPN
The mid-week action features a showdown between the two best shooting teams in the league. The Warriors hit the road hoping to extend their winning streak to five games as they take on the Raptors in Toronto. King Curry and the Warriors are finally hitting their straps after a slow start to the season going 8-2, after acquiring Kevin Durant in the off-season.
The Warriors lead the league in points per game with an average of 116.4. Against the Suns on Sunday, Curry was in fine form finishing with 30 points and KD ending up with 29 points, five assists and nine rebounds.
Toronto are riding high on the back of a three game winning streak, thanks to the red hot form of DeMar DeRozan. DeRozan has been in MJ like form leading his team, averaging 34 points in his first nine games this season. While two-time NBA All-Star, Kyle Lowry has been solid (17.3 PPG) he will need to step up his game to take the pressure off DeRozan.
The Warriors will be under threat if they don’t step up their defence on the road. Toronto will stay with the Warriors for the first half, but expect the Warriors depth to shine through in the last quarter. I’m predicting the Warriors to come through in a close contest.
BEST BET: Warriors to win at $1.44
Chicago Bulls @ Utah Jazz
Venue: Vivint Smart Home Arena, Salt Lake City
Date and Time: Friday November 18, 2.30pm AEDT
TV: Live on ESPN
The Chicago Bulls travel to Utah to face the Jazz team, featuring Aussies Dante Exum and Joe Ingles in a good run of form. Ingles had a game high of 20 points in the recent loss to the Grizzlies. The Bulls are two games into a six-game road trip and will be looking to keep the positive momentum going this season. With Jimmy Butler averaging 24.3 (PPG) and Rajon Rondo averaging six assists per game they will be hard to stop
The Jazz will be sweating on the fitness of key men George Hill and Rodney Hood. Niggling injuries to Gordon Hayward and Derrick Favors mean the Jazz will need Ingles to continue his good run of form.
The home court advantage and the good form of the Aussie connection won’t be enough to get the Jazz over the line. Butler and Dwyane Wade should get the Bulls off to a fast start against a Jazz team that needs to find some good defensive form. I’m tipping the Bulls to take this one.
BEST BET: Bulls to win at $2.41
