Houston Rockets @ New York Knicks
Thursday, 2 November, 2017 at 11am AEDST at Madison Square Garden, New York
The New York Knicks got a signature win last Sunday, defeating the Cleveland Cavaliers in Cleveland.
The Knicks were buoyed by season-best performances from Tim Hardaway Jnr and Kristaps Porzingis, with both scoring over 30 points.
They will need a similar performance to overcome the Houston Rockets.
The Rockets possess one of the league’s most potent offences.
Their much published three-point shooting strategy and quick offence has reaped rewards, as the team have made deep playoff runs over the past few seasons.
Despite being without point guard Chris Paul, the Rockets are a far better team than the Knicks.
Houston have played a number of road games recently, so they could have a let down in terms of energy for this match.
We don’t expect that to be the case on Thursday.
Best bet: Houston Rockets to win by 7+
Dallas Mavericks @ Los Angeles Clippers
Thursday, 2 November, 2017 at 1.30pm AEDST at Staples Centre, Los Angeles
The Los Angeles Clippers host the Dallas Mavericks in the middle of a five-game home stand.
The Clippers have started the season brilliantly without Chris Paul, going 4-1 at the time of writing.
They host a Mavericks team that has amassed only one win in seven starts this season.
Dallas are severely outmatched in this match up in the speed and athleticism department.
With Clippers centre Deandre Jordan rebounding at a league-best 17.4 rebounds per game, the Clippers will clean up all of Dallas’ missed opportunities and also have many chances on the offensive glass.
Nowadays Dallas is led by number nine draft pick Dennis Smith Jnr and Harrison Barnes.
This veteran team is in for a long season, and it wouldn’t surprise if they made some trades of their veterans players if this downturn in form continues.
The Mavericks have lost at home to the Atlanta Hawks and Sacramento Kings among others. Their only two road games thus far have resulted in losses.
LA should cruise to victory in this one.
Best bet: LA Clippers to win by 11+
