With the finals series not too far away, teams are looking to lock away their spot in the post season and Round 17 sees the fourth and fifth place sides do battle over two games in what can prove to be a season defining round.
On Friday night, 7:30PM AEDT, the fifth place Illawarra Hawks (10-12) host the league’s number four side, the New Zealand Breakers (13-9) at the WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong.
The home side are instilled as favourites at $1.65 with the Breakers paying $2.25 to steal the away win.
With the Hawks fresh off an impressive 88-78 victory over Cairns last Sunday, taking the Hawks with a -2.5 handicap at $1.87 looks a worthwhile option to consider.
They head to New Zealand two days later on Sunday, with their game scheduled for 1:00PM AEDT. This time around, the Hawks are the underdog at $2.67 with the Breakers a clear favourite at $1.48.
If you are optimistic about the Hawks playoff hopes and feel a back to back win is a possibility, you can get Illawarra to win by 1-10 points at $3.60 in the Big Win – Little Win market.
In other action for the round, ladder leaders Melbourne United host the seventh placed Brisbane Bullets on Saturday afternoon at 5:30PM AEDT. Head to head market, Melbourne are priced at $1.26 to Brisbane’s $3.90.
If you believe a dominant performance is in order for the United, you can get a Melbourne by 11+ point victory at $2.25.
In the other double header for the round, the Adelaide 36ers and Perth Wildcats will also play host to each other once and like the Hawks and Breakers, will also do so in Friday night and Sunday afternoon fixtures.
In comparing both fixtures, the Wildcats are the clearer favourite in their home game, paying $1.48 to win on Friday night with Adelaide $2.67. On Sunday, the 36ers a $1.56 favourite at home with Perth $2.44.
If you feel that we are going to see some close encounters between the two sides this weekend, you can take the Tribet option and select Either Team (to win by) Under 5.5 points at $2.53 on Friday night and $2.42 on Sunday.
With only two more rounds left in the home and away season, after this weekend’s results we might have a clear idea on who will be playing whom in the semi-finals.
Suggested Bet: Illawarra v New Zealand: Take Either Team (to win by) Under 5.5 points at $2.53
