The NBL has reached its final round of the 2017/18 season, and with finals participants having been confirmed at the end of Round 17 this weekend’s action will determine playoff matchups and overall ladder positioning.
Melbourne United v Perth Wildcats
In what is looking to be a preview to a semi final series in a week’s time, ladder leaders the Melbourne United will host the third placed Perth Wildcats at Hisense Arena this Friday night.
With the Wildcats currently in third position, this game is an important fixture if they want to avoid dropping to fourth position at the conclusion of the round. Finishing fourth would mean a semi final series with Melbourne the following week which may result in an early end to their three peat aspirations.
The United head into Friday night’s clash a comfortable $1.44 favourite with the Wildcats at $2.62.
With the Wildcats coming off a surprising defeat at home to the Cairns Taipans, defeating a United side who won both home and away fixtures to playoff qualifier the New Zealand Breakers last weekend seems quite a difficult proposition.
That being said, with the outcome of Friday’s game having a huge bearing on their final season positioning, expect the Wildcats to leave it all on the court.
The handicap of +4.5 points for Perth is worth a look as we might be in for a close one.
Suggested Bet: Perth Wildcats (+4.5) (Handicap Betting) @ $1.87
Sydney Kings v New Zealand Breakers
The Sydney Kings will play their final game of the season when they host the New Zealand Breakers at Qudos Bank Arena this Sunday afternoon.
The Kings will be looking to end their season on a high having not qualified for finals action, they will be taking on a Breakers outfit who have locked in their top four position.
Sydney enter the contest a $1.61 favourite with New Zealand at $2.20.
The Breakers would love to enter finals fresh off an away win and present decent value against a Sydney team who may feel mentally checked out for the season come tip-off.
The Kings may hit the court enjoying the home crowd support but may not be able to maintain the intensity over the four quarters where the Breakers take over in the second half. Therefore, a good value option in this game is the ‘double result’, which selects the half time leader and full time winner.
Suggested Bet: Sydney Kings – New Zealand Breakers (Double Result) @ 6.50
