The 2017-18 NBL season has already produced countless highlights, close finishes and shock results.
This round sees three double headers on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, which should provide NBL fans with some great quality basketball wherever they turn.
New Zealand Breakers versus Adelaide 36ers
Thursday, 2 November 2017 at 5.40pm AEDST
Fans don’t have to wait long for the game of the round, with the red-hot Adelaide 36ers on the road to take on the New Zealand Breakers.
There is very little to separate these two sides, with New Zealand winning four in a row, including two wins in Australia.
It has to be said that they have defeated the Sydney Kings twice, Brisbane Bullets and Melbourne United. These three teams have struggled so far this season.
Adelaide have been just as impressive, winning in Cairns last start after dominating much of that game.
Road form has not been an issue for the 36ers, as they have won 10 of their past 15 road games.
Adelaide are underdogs and that can only be because they’re on the road.
The 36ers are a value bet at a price of $2.15 at Sportsbet.
Best bet: Adelaide 36ers to win at $2.15 Sportsbet
Brisbane Bullets versus Illawarra Hawks
Friday, 3 November 2017 at 7.40pm AEDST
The Illawarra Hawks may have taken the mantle away from the Sydney Kings as being the worst team in the NBL after last season losing to the under siege Kings last week.
To compound matters for the Hawks, they were thumped by 31 against the Wildcats to cap off a forgettable round four of the season for the side from Wollongong.
The Bullets had a close loss to the Breakers and a narrow win against Melbourne United last weekend to end the week 1-1.
Brisbane has yet to beat Illawarra since they returned to the NBL and have a poor record as home favourite, winning only one of their last eight in this scenario.
Despite the trends, Brisbane are appealing as home favourites in this scenario.
Illawarra haven’t played quality basketball all season and will need to prove that before they become backable at such short odds.
The Bullets are due for a break out game and this could be it.
Take the Bullets and the small home line.
Best bet: Brisbane Bullets to cover the -2.5 line at $1.90 (Sportsbet)
Cairns Taipans versus New Zealand Breakers
Saturday, 4 November 2017 at 7.30pm AEDST
The Cairns Taipans have a good recent record against the New Zealand Breakers, winning their past five games against them.
The Taipans also have the advantage of being at home for this match, with the Breakers also playing on Thursday night against the 36ers.
Cairns have had a sporadic start to the season and it is hard predict what you are going to get from the Taipans on any given night.
Given that, the Breakers as underdogs are the value play in this one.
The Taipans offense has struggled at times this season. It would not surprise if Cairns now, as they have beaten the Wildcats at home this season.
Despite this, we are taking the better team as underdogs.
Best bet: New Zealand Breakers to win at $2.15 at Sportsbet
