Round 6 of the 2017/18 NBL season will see the New Zealand Breakers and Perth Wildcats face off twice in the space of four days.
The Breakers and Wildcats have been the two stand out teams so far this season, with both teams in red hot form.
New Zealand Breakers versus Perth Wildcats
Thursday, 9 November 2017 at 5.30pm AEDST
The Breakers got a last gasp victory against the Cairns Taipans last weekend thanks to an Edgar Sosa three pointer at the buzzer.
That win was New Zealand’s sixth in a row, after they beat the Adelaide 36ers last Thursday night.
The Breakers have won eight of their past 13 games as home favourite, with their record against the line identical.
New Zealand have been underrated all season, as they’ve been road underdogs on numerous occasions and only slight home favourites.
The Wildcats only loss this season came against Cairns, but besides that blemish they too have been the benchmark of this new season.
Perth’s record in New Zealand is poor, covering on only two of their past 10 games in Auckland.
With those statistics and New Zealand’s exceptional play of late, the Breakers are the pick in this one.
Best bet: New Zealand Breakers to win at -1.5 $1.86 at Sportsbet
Cairns Taipans versus Melbourne United
Thursday, 9 November 2017 at 7.30pm AEDST
The Cairns Taipans host Melbourne United after last weekend falling 87-65 to United in Melbourne.
Cairns got off to a slow start and coach Aaron Fearne will want his side to come out with more intensity from the tip against United this time around.
Melbourne strung together two wins at home last week, but their play on the road has been more worrisome this season.
Melbourne have struggled for consistency this season and have only won two of their past seven games as away favourites.
The trio of Casper Ware, Casey Prather and Chris Goulding is beginning to gel and should propel United to a narrow victory.
Best bet: Melbourne United -1.5 at $1.90 at Sportsbet
Adelaide 36ers versus Illawarra Hawks
Saturday, 11 November 2017 at 7.30pm AEDST
The Adelaide 36ers came tumbling down last weekend, losing on the road to New Zealand and Melbourne.
The 36ers will be happy to return home and are clear favourites to beat the Illawarra Hawks on Saturday night.
Adelaide have won nine of their past 13 games as home favourites, coming the line eight times.
Illawarra had their best weekend of the season, beating Brisbane and Sydney away.
This is a set up in opponent for the Hawks, how before last weekend had only won six of their past 18 road games.
In what is sure to be a high scoring game, we’re tipping an upset, with Illawarra to get the win against a 36ers team that can be hot and cold when their shots don’t fall.
Conservative bettors can opt for the generous 6.5 point start, however we are going for the win.
Best bet: Illawarra Hawks to win at $3.46 at Sportsbet
Round 6 Odds
