Week 7 of the 2018 NFL season kicks off with the Denver Broncos taking on the Arizona Cardinals on Thursday Night Football.
Denver Broncos at Arizona Cardinals
Friday, 19 October 2018 at 11:20am (AEDST) at State Farm Stadium, Arizona
The Denver Broncos (2-4) are struggling after a good start to the season, losing their past four games. They were beaten 23-20 at home by the Super Bowl favourite Los Angeles Rams in week six and now travel a short distance to Arizona to take on the Cardinals.
It’s been an even worse season so far for the Cardinals, who have won only one game. Despite that, they start this game as a narrow home underdog, priced at $2.02. The Broncos are $1.83 favourites.
The Arizona offence has been a big disappointment this season, with rookie quarterback Josh Rosen struggling.
The Broncos offence is not much better as Case Keenum doesn’t look like a bonafide superstar moving forward.
Denver holds a dominant all-time head-to-head record against the Cardinals, losing just once in 10 meetings. This is their first trip to Arizona since 2010.
Prior to last week, the Broncos had failed to cover the spread in any game this season. A late touchdown allowed them to cover the seven-point spread in a wintry game at Mile Hile Stadium.
The Rams opened up the Broncos defensively, rushing for a staggering 270 yards.
Arizona has plenty of issues on both sides of the ball and was a miserable 0-10 on third downs against Minnesota last week.
We are going to go out on a limb and back the Cardinals to get it done at home against an equally out of sorts team in Denver. The Broncos are nothing special and the Cardinals should lift for a rare nationally televised game.
Best bet- Arizona Cardinals to win at $2.02
New Orleans Saints at Baltimore Ravens
Monday, 22 October 2018 at 7:05am (AEDST) at M&T Bank Stadium, Baltimore
Offence meets defence when the Baltimore Ravens and New Orleans Saints clash in Baltimore on Monday morning (AEDST).
The Ravens have one of the league’s best defences and have opened as $1.74 home favourites against the Saints, who are paying $2.15.
After an opening week blunder against the Bucs, the Saints have rattled off four straight wins and covered the spread in three of those four games.
Baltimore’s 21-0 shut out of Tennessee helped them more to 4-2 on the season and against the spread. The under has been the friend of Ravens backers recently, going 4-0. The over/under for this match is set at 49.5 points.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees is having a stellar career in his 18th season in the NFL. He has the best quarterback rating in the league (122.3) and completion percentage (77.9).
The Ravens concede the fewest points and yards per game in the NFL and sacked Titans quarterback Marcus Mariota a stunning 11 times last week.
New Orleans is well rested from a bye week and will come to Baltimore to put on a show. We like them as underdogs, which they won’t be for many games this season.
Best bet- New Orleans Saints to win at $2.15
Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs
Monday. 22 October 2018 at 11:20am (AEDST) at Arrowhead Stadium, Kansas City
The Kansas City Chiefs feature on Sunday Night Football for back-to-back weeks as they host fellow AFC contender the Cincinnati Bengals.
The Chiefs are $1.43 favourites to win the match, with the Bengals $2.94 outsiders.
The Bengals and Chiefs both lead their divisions after six weeks and have been flexed into the Sunday night timeslot instead of the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers game.
The Bengals have won five in a row against the Chiefs, but Kansas City is a far different unit to the team they last faced in 2015.
Cincinnati will be bitterly disappointed with their last minute defensive lapse against the Steelers that allowed their rivals to draw a game closer to them in the standings. Cincinnati is 2-16 at home to Pittsburgh in the Marvin Lewis era.
Kansas City’s first defeat of the season came against New England 43-40 last week. It was an enthralling encounter, with Patrick Mahomes asserting himself as an MVP candidate with 352 yards and four touchdowns.
There are host of injuries on the defensive side of the ball to the Bengals that makes it difficult for them to win this one and we can see the Chiefs rolling them.
Best bet- Kansas City Chiefs to cover six-point handicap at $1.91
