NRL Best Bets – Round 4: Roosters to roll on

Wed, Mar 22, 9:29am by Staff Writer

The NRL ladder is starting to take shape after just three Rounds of action. Those hoping to be busy come Finals footy time have already started to make their claim. With plenty of rugby league left to play, however, everything could change. Form is vital throughout the long hard NRL season and it will be a matter of perseverance to make the top eight. As could be expected the Storm lead the pack at this early stage although seventh placed Cronulla currently have the same points as 16placed Wests.

Rabbitohs v Roosters, ANZ Stadium, Thursday March 23, 8:05pm AEDT

The Rabbitohs and Roosters will reignite their rivalry once again this Thursday as they meet in Round Four. In what is arguably one of the biggest derby matches in the NRL, there is no love lost between these two sides. Although this match comes around with a change in circumstances to recent years with the Roosters in better form than the Rabbitohs. Sydney hold a 100%-win rate for the season so far but that will be tested severely by the home side. This could well be an early test of their credentials. They head into this fixture as favourites with William Hill priced at $1.38. Despite the loss of Greg Inglis in the opening Round, South Sydney have battled on beating both Manly and Newcastle. They will be eyeing an upset here priced at $3.05.

Bet of the Match: Sydney to Win by 13+ points at $2.40

Broncos v Raiders, Suncorp Stadium, Friday March 24, 8:05pm AEDT

Brisbane will host another huge clash on Friday Night Football as the Canberra Raiders make the trip to Queensland. Two close losses in succession for the Broncos against fellow title contenders the Storm and Cowboys make this match up even more important. Brisbane and Canberra will be aiming for the top four realistically this season and win here would go a long way towards that. Those narrow losses for the Broncos against top opposition will have given them hope and are priced at $1.65 with William Hill. Canberra are fresh from their destruction of Wests Tigers in Round Three and will be looking to add more misery to the Broncos run of form. They certainly have the big men in the forwards to deal a crushing blow to the home side. Although that win was their first of the year and may well struggle in Brisbane. They are priced at $2.25

Bet of the Match: Brisbane to Win by 1-12 points at $3.00

Eels v Sharks, ANZ Stadium, Saturday March 25, 7pm AEDT

Parramatta and Cronulla will clash in a fixture that William Hill can’t separate. Both sides are priced at $1.90 to claim victory. This despite the Eels showing plenty of form so far this year, while the Sharks have struggled for consistency in the opening three Rounds. Cronulla will take hope from the Eels loss to the Titans last weekend and look to take advantage of the continuing absence of Corey Norman. While the Eels will be looking to bounce back to winning ways regardless of injuries and have plenty of quality at their disposal.

Bet of the Match: Parramatta to Win by 1-12 points at $3.25
