NRL Round 11: Preview, Odds and Best Bets

Wed, May 16, 6:01pm by Staff Writer

It is all still very close in the NRL with places in the finals still well in contention for a majority of the sides. It is, however, at the point for the likes of North Queensland were if they don’t start winning now they can say wave their finals hopes goodbye.

Penrith Panthers V Wests Tigers, Thursday 17th May, 7.50pm, Panthers Stadium

2nd place takes on 7th in this match that has the potential to be the match of the Round. In what is likely to be a tight hard fought contest neither side will want to be the one to take a backwards step. Former Penrith coach, Ivan Cleary, will be taking his new Wests side into battle as they both look to stay in top eight contention. Wests stopped a three-game losing streak in Round 10 as they beat the Cowboys and stand at $2.35.

Penrith hold an impressive 7-3 record heading into this match, although they have faltered in recent weeks including a loss to the Cowboys. They are best when their big ball carriers get the side moving forward and will be looking to win the battle up front. They stand at $1.61.

Bet of the Match – Penrith to Win by 13+ points at $3.10

Parramatta Eels v New Zealand Warriors, Friday 18th May, 6pm, ANZ Stadium

After a top four finish last year, hopes were high for Parramatta to challenge again for the Premiership in 2018. That has failed to materialise as they have fallen from grace registering just two wins so far. They have the chance this weekend though to cause an upset especially considering the injuries that the Warriors have. An Eels win stands at $2.20.

The Warriors remain in the fight for what would have been an unlikely place in the top eight at the start of the season. So often written off by pundits and fans alike, they have managed to produce a number of consistent performances this season. Although they have also found out the hard way what it’s like to take on the top sides as both the Storm and the Roosters crushed them. They are priced at $1.69.

Bet of the Match – New Zealand to Win by 13+ points at $3.50

Nth Queensland Cowboys v South Sydney Rabbitohs, Saturday 19th May, 5.30pm, 1300SMILES Stadium

North Queensland’s aspirations for this season have taken a huge hit as they have struggled to carry over their late season form from 2017. With only three wins for the season, the Cowboys languish in 14th on the ladder. Although they are still not out of finals contention but need to start putting together back to back wins. A fabulous win away from home over the Panthers suggested they were back on track before falling off at home to the Tigers. They stand at $2.10.

As one of the form sides in the NRL, South Sydney will be confident of making the trip up to Queensland and coming home with a win. They have won four of their last five including an impressive win over the number one placed Dragons in Round 10. The Rabbitohs are priced at $1.75 to add to their win record for the season.

Bet of the Match – South Sydney to Win by 1-12 points at $3.10
