Cronulla Sharks v St George Illawarra Dragons, Thursday 15th March 2018, 8.05pm
The Dragons have a perfect record on Thursday Night Football in 2018. Their opening Round win over the Broncos was clinical as they tore Brisbane apart guided by Ben Hunt. If he continues in that vein of form, then St George Illawarra will be genuine contenders this year. They head into this game as underdogs at $2.10 and will need their pack to muscle up if they are to have any chance.
Priced at $1.75, the Sharks look set to ignite their season in Round 2, after a disappointing loss to the Cowboys. A tough opening Round saw them struggle to match North Queensland across the field and they will have to improve if they are match that price.
Bet of the Match – St George to Win by 1-12 points at $3.50
Sydney Roosters v Canterbury Bulldogs, Friday 16th March 2018, 6pm
A shock loss in the opening Round for the Roosters against the Tigers, was not the start that Sydney would have hoped for. Big off-season signings in the form Cooper Cronk and James Tedesco had the Roosters as favourites to win the Premiership. Yet, they struggled match the Tigers intensity and will need to bounce back quickly if they are to hold of the Bulldogs at $1.30.
A first up game against the reigning Premiers was never going to be a good start for Canterbury. They matched the Storm at times during the game but ultimately fell up short. At $3.50 they are well of the pace in this match and will need to be at their best.
Bet of the Match – Sydney to Win by 13+ points at $2.20
Brisbane Broncos v Nth Queensland Cowboys, Friday 16th March 2018, 8.05pm
The Queensland derby on a Friday night at Suncorp Stadium has the potential to be the game of the Round. With rivalries reignited between the two, Brisbane will need to vastly improve from their Round 1 performance. They were comprehensively out played by the Dragons and at $2.39 they face a challenge to overturn the predicted result in this match.
North Queensland moved to joint favourites for the Premiership following a Round 1 win over Cronulla. The return of Johnathan Thurston and Matt Scott certainly gave the Cowboys a boost heading into the new season. Priced at $1.58 they are firm favourites to beat the Broncos.
Bet of the Match – North Queensland to Win by 13+ points at $3.30
New Zealand Warriors v Gold Coast Titans, Saturday 17th March 2018, 3.05pm
These two sides head into this match with a surprising unbeaten record after wins in the opening Round. The Warriors impressed away from home against the Rabbitohs and showed signs of hope of New Zealand rugby league fans. At $1.35 they should go to two from two.
The Titans produced a remarkable comeback to topple the Raiders, as the new look Gold Coast side impressed. It remains to be seen what they are capable of when they are away from home and this will be a huge test of them. Especially as these two clubs are likely to be battling it out at the lower end of the ladder. They stand at $3.20.
