Penrith Panthers v South Sydney Rabbitohs, Saturday 17th March 2018, 5.30pm
The Panthers started of their season with an incredible comeback win over the Eels. That second half performance showed the potential that Penrith have in their squad. They are favourites at $1.40 to continue their winning ways. The Panthers, however, will be wary of the slow start that they had against the Eels and will not want a repeat of that.
South Sydney disappointed in their loss to the New Zealand Warriors and need a quick response. At $3 though, they are up against it. The addition of Dane Gagai to the squad has given them a major threat out on the wings and must adjust to give him the opportunities to show what he can do.
Bet of the Match – Penrith to Win by 1-12 points at $3.10
Melbourne Storm v Wests Tigers, Saturday 17th March 2018, 7.35pm
Wests will be given the chance to truly test their credentials against the reigning Premiers, after they beat this season’s favourites in Round 1. That tight win over the Roosters will have inspired belief in the Tigers playing squad but Melbourne at home will be a huge challenge. They are priced well of the pace at $5.10.
A win over Canterbury in the Perth double header, gave Melbourne the ideal start to their defence of the Premiership. The loss of key players in the off-season appears not to have affected their hopes of the 2018 season. Storm are priced at $1.17.
Bet of the Match – Melbourne to Win by 13+ points at $1.62
Manly Sea Eagles v Parramatta Eels, Sunday 18th March 2018, 4.10pm
Losses for both these teams in Round 1, gives this match even more importance. They are likely to be sides fighting for the top eight at the end of the year and even at this early stage, it is vital not to be the team on the losing side. Manly failed to capitalise on their chances in their golden point loss to the Knights. If they can take their opportunities, then they look good at $1.78.
Parramatta stand at $2.05 but will face a huge challenge at Lottoland on Sunday afternoon. A disastrous second half against the Panthers meant that they threw away a relatively comfortable lead in Round 1. The Eels will be looking to make amends with the same 17 named to take on Manly.
Bet of the Match – Manly to Win by 1-12 points at $3.10
Canberra Raiders v Newcastle Knights, Sunday 18th March 2018, 6.30pm
The Raiders suffered at the hands of the Titans in Round 1 as they struggled to play for the full 80 minutes. Back in Canberra, they will certainly to be looking to make their home form a rock as they have in recent seasons. At $1.68 they are favourites to edge out the Knights in this match.
Newcastle are shaping up to be the surprise package of the season. It took a Mitchell Pearce golden point drop goal to secure the win over Manly, but they will need to improve if they are to shrug off the wooden spoon contenders tag. Priced at $2.20 they will need a massive performance if they are to achieve a victory.
