With the long weekend for the Queen’s Birthday rugby league fans get an extra day of rest and NRL action. With games on Sunday and Monday in Round 14 to look forward to.
Wests Tigers v Sydney Roosters, Campbelltown Stadium, Sunday June 11, 4pm
Sydney Roosters will be looking to keep up the pressure on their opponents in the top four and build on a tough win over rivals Brisbane last weekend. The Roosters showed plenty of grit to get them victory over the Broncos and they can’t afford to slip up here when they travel to take on the Tigers. Sydney have won eight matches in a row against Wests and will be confident of continuing that trend as they are priced at $1.22. The return of Mitchell Pearce will be a welcome boost for the Roosters following his concussion related injuries sustained in Origin 1. Wests may well be languishing down in 15th on the ladder but they have a number of players in their squad who could make it a tough day for the Roosters. In particular, James Tedesco who shined in Origin 1, could cause Sydney plenty of problems. He would need to have the game of his life against his future employers, however, if they are to overturn a price of $4.40 with William Hill. Having lost their four last games, the Tigers are in desperate need of a change of fortune.
Bet of the Match: Sydney to Win by 13+ points at $1.95
Canterbury Bulldogs v St George Illawarra Dragons, ANZ Stadium, Sunday June 11, 4pm
The Bulldogs and Dragons will clash on the Queen’s Birthday public holiday. Canterbury head into this fixture on the back of a humiliating defeat against the Panthers last weekend. That 38-0 loss will have sent shockwaves through the Bulldogs camp and they will be looking for answer when they face the Dragons. They have received a major boost for this match with Brett Morris, Josh Reynolds and James Graham all returning to the side following a rest after Origin service. The Bulldogs will be hoping that is enough to help them overcome a price of $2.70 with William Hill. In their favour is the fact that they have beaten the Dragons in their last four meetings. St George will be aiming to end that run as they have continued their fine form that sees them sit third on the ladder. The Dragons stuttered in their win over the Tigers post-Origin and will need an improved performance if they are to beat what is likely to be a Bulldogs side aiming to bounce back from last weekend. St George will have the face down the backlash from Canterbury in the opening 40 minutes but over the 80 they should have too much class for them. William Hill have St George priced at $1.48 for the win and although it may well be a close game, they should just have the edge against the Bulldogs.
