After a few week hiatus and freshen-up, Sydney racing is back at Rosehill Gardens this Saturday. The rail is in the true and the track will be in the good range.
The Listed Carrington Stakes (1400m) is the feature race of the day with a field of 10 to line up. Lanicato ($3.50) continued his recent good form with a last start win over Noire and with that made it three victories from his last four starts. He’s third-up here and will jump from barrier one.
Endless Drama ($4.60) has had four starts in Australia – three at G1 level, the other in a G2 – but it’s fair to say he hasn’t really set the world on fire (yet, anyway). This will be his third prep in Australia, his previous two campaigns being one and three runs long respectively.
George Patton ($3.20) is an interesting runner as he makes his Australian debut for trainers Peter and Paul Snowden. He’s got two wins and two placings from his five starts and down on the 53kg limit, he’s been well supported in early betting.
Kim Waugh saddles up two runners who both perform consistently for the small Wyong-based trainer. Supreme Effort ($6) has won eight of his 32 career starts with a further nine placings and he comes into this off a last-start second to Calanda in the Listed Takeover Target Stakes (1200m) while Oxford Poet ($9) has won seven from 35 – with 16 minors – and he’s second-up after finishing third to Calanda and Supreme Effort when fresh. A Group 1 winner as a 2YO and 3YO, Prized Icon ($12) will carry top weight of 60kg and he’s having his first run for new trainer Kris Lees. Voilier ($41) broke a long run of outs when recording his second career win last run, at his 31st race start while Kuro ($17) also comes out of the Takeover Target Stakes where he finished seventh of nine with a third in the Listed Razor Sharp (1200m) prior.
Race two – an open handicap over 1100m – is an intimate affair with only five runners accepted. Siege of Quebec ($1.60) resumes for the Waterhouse/Bott stable as a short-price favourite in what is his fourth career start. He won his first two starts before a second to Menari in the Listed Rosebud Stakes (1100m) back in August.
Kennedy ($6) has a win and three minors from his four runs this campaign with his most recent run when third to Pendeloque, beaten 0.4L. Lightz ($13) was sixth on that occasion but still within two-lengths of the winner and he’s second-up here.
Single Bullet ($4.60) has seven minor placings – and a win – from his 11 career starts with four seconds from his past five runs while Roman Typhoon ($12) has a Muswellbrook maiden victory as his only win from four career starts.
Suggested Bet: Going again with Lanciato ($3.50, race 7, number 7) in a race with a few question marks around it. George Patton might be a decent horse and any money will be a good lead while Endless Drama has been racing in better company than this but is yet to get close so hoping Lanciato can keep his form going and down on the 53kg limit, he should look the winner at some stage.
