Week two of the Round 20 split round see the Western Sydney Wanderers play their second consecutive home game this round when they host the second placed Newcastle Jets at Spotless Stadium on Friday night.
Western Sydney Wanderers v Newcastle Jets
Last Sunday, the Wanderers hosted the Wellington Phoenix in their rescheduled Round 7 fixture. The reschedule may have reignited the middling Western Sydney outfit’s season aspirations, who dominated their New Zealand opponents 4-0 over the 90 minutes.
The contest with the Jets presents the Wanderers the perfect test to gauge how they stack up as a legitimate title contender in a battle pitting sixth placed Western Sydney against second placed Newcastle.
The betting market slightly leans to the home team with Western Sydney a $2.40 favourite, with Newcastle at $2.50 and the Draw paying $3.50.
Expect Newcastle to not give an inch in this contest and it to be a close battle.
Suggested Bet: Under 2.5 goals (Over/Under 2.5 goals) @ $2.26
Adelaide United v Central Coast Mariners
The final game of Round 20 sees the Adelaide United host the Central Coast Mariners at Coopers Stadium on Saturday night.
The fourth placed United sit on 28 points and lead a four team bunch of sides between 4th and 7th position who are separated by six points. Melbourne City are currently in third place on 33 points but have already played their Round 20 fixture, in their 4-0 defeat at home to Sydney FC.
Saturday night presents United a terrific opportunity to close in on third position and would fancy themselves against a Central Coast outfit who are sitting in ninth position and have only won 3 of their 19 games this season.
The bookmakers agree and United are a clear $1.83 favourite for this round, with the Mariners paying $4.00 and the Draw at $3.50.
The United look positioned to make a statement this weekend and taking Adelaide with a -1.0 handicap could be a rewarding option.
Suggested Bet: Adelaide United (-1.0) (Handicap Betting) @ $3.40
