IT’S a game where teams are thrown together, with just under a week to prepare – and much of that is spent doing PR work.
Come Sunday, City and Country players will be expected to front up and perform like a finely-tuned machine, often with players alongside them who they have never played with.
That could point towards the total points market looking towards a low score.
On the flipside, players are free of restrictions and inhibitions that they may have to exhibit each week at club level or in higher representative matches.
They also get to play an afternoon match in front of an appreciative country crowd on a ground that is a far cry from the big stadiums they play in front of on a weekly basis.
Over 40.5 – $1.90
Under 40.5 – $1.90
Recent times have brought a mixed bag of total scores. Last season in Coffs Harbour, a total of 30 points were scored.
In the five years before that the totals were 46,30,52,58 and 44.
In 23 matches in total since the origin concept has been around, 15 of the games have yielded totals under the 40.5 point mark.
The last time the game was played in Dubbo, Country won 12-10.
2014 has seen a few new rules introduced, which should open up more attacking opportunities and higher scores.
Country has combinations which have played plenty of NRL games together, which should help its cause when it comes to attack.
The fact that the match is being played in the afternoon also points towards more points being scored, with no dew and perfect handling conditions.
This looks like it could be a score-fest.
The over 40.5 @ $1.90 with IASbet.com looks the bet.
IASbet also offer a market for each team in the total points category.
Country to score over 17.5 @ $1.80 looks a superb investment in that market.
