Stefan Struve will have a patriotic home crowd behind him when the Dutchman takes on former Bellator Heavyweight Champion Alexander Volkov in a Main Event heavyweight battle at UFC Fight Night 115 in the Southern Holland city of Rotterdam.
At 210 centimetres tall, Struve usually has a massive height advantage into all his bouts, but that won’t be the case here, when he meets his Russian opponent, who is also a giant, at 201 centimetres.
The local is a powerful striker, and is coming off wins against both Antonio Silva and Daniel Omielanczuk, but this is a step up in class, which sees him go in as a $2.14 underdog.
Volkov is one of the division’s rising stars, and has accounted for both Timothy Johnson and Roy Nelson in his last two fights. We’ll be taking the $1.71.
Australia’s Rob Wilkinson ($1.85) will go in as a slight underdog in his middleweight encounter with Siyar Bahadurzada ($1.80). The Aussie is undefeated at 11-0, although this contest represents a step up in class from his previous encounters.
Bahadurzada – who trains out of the Netherlands – is a powerful striker, but showed his versatility in his last fight, when he choked out Brandon Thatch.
We give the edge to the Aussie, he’s eight years younger than his veteran opponent, and has done very little wrong in his career to date. Of his 11 wins, nine have come via first-round stoppages.
Talita De Oliveira received a very late call-up for her bantamweight clash with Marion Reneau, after Germaine de Randamie pulled out of the bout with an injury. This has seen the Brazilian installed at the large odds $3.52.
Reneau is a solid grappler and striker and while you’ll only get $1.30 for the win, it looks a good bet considering that she’s more experienced and de Oliveira will surely be underprepared with the lack of notice.
