Round 14 of Super Rugby begins on Friday night when the high-flying Hurricanes host the lowly Reds in Wellington.
Super Rugby will play its first fixture in Hong Kong when the Sunwolves host the Stormers on Saturday afternoon, while the Jaguares are back in action against the Bulls on Sunday morning.
Sunwolves versus Stormers
Saturday, 19 May 2018 at 3.15pm at Mong Kok Stadium, Hong Kong
The Sunwolves finally notched their first win of the season last weekend with a 63-28 thumping of the Reds in Tokyo.
They will be hoping for consecutive wins when they play in Hong Kong this weekend but will be $4 underdogs for their clash with the Stormers who are firm $1.25 favourites.
The Stormers were aggrieved with the officiating in last weekends 15-9 loss to the Chiefs in Durban and will not have to travel a reasonable distance to Hong Kong for this match.
The Stormers have won three and drawn one of their four matches against the Sunwolves, beating the Japanese franchise by 37 points in their last encounter in 2017.
The Sunwolves will be full of confidence after an outstanding display against the Reds. For the first time all season they have played an entire 80 minutes and they should challenge the Stormers, who have been poor on the road this season.
The visitors have lost all six of their away fixtures this season and can’t be trusted as 10.5-point favourites against any team at the moment.
Best bet- Sunwolves to cover 10.5-point handicap at $1.90
Sharks versus Chiefs
Saturday, 19 May 2018 at 11.05pm AEST at Kings Park, Durban
The Sharks enter their round 14 match against the Chiefs facing a severely depleted opposition.
The Chiefs are $3.15 outsiders for this contest largely due to them missing 20 players through a combination of injury and All Blacks selection.
A policy of All Blacks coach Steve Hansen has been to rest players for two weeks ahead of the upcoming June series against France.
Despite a 15-9 win last weekend, a majority of the Chiefs outstanding players left the team this weekend for a North Island camp with fellow Kiwi players.
The Sharks are $1.36 favourites and should hammer this undermanned Chiefs outfit. They are currently 7-point favourites, but we expect this line to increase until kick off.
There is value in the Sharks to win by 13+ in a game where they should be able to control momentum from the outset.
Best bet- Sharks Big Win Little Win 13+ at $2.50
Jaguares versus Bulls
Sunday, 20 May 2018 at 7.40am AEST
The Jaguares return to Buenos Aires after their most successful road trip in their short history. Four consecutive wins in Australia and New Zealand have set the Jags up for a big finish to the season as they look to challenge the Lions at the top of the South African conference.
They will enter this round 14 match against the Bulls as $1.57 favourites, with the visitors $2.40.
The Bulls lost 29-11 in their only visit to Estadio Jose Amalfitani in 2015 and have been an inconsistent team to back this season, especially on the road.
The Bulls only road win this season came in the form of a shock 40-10 win against the Sharks in Durban last month.
Trailing the Lions by only seven points in the standings, this will be a match up the Jaguares will fancy, given their supremacy from the set piece.
After early season struggles at home, they should be full of confidence and will make it five wins in a row.
Best bet- Jaguares to cover 4.5-point handicap at $1.90
On Friday night the Hurricanes are $1.02 favourites to dispatch the Reds, which they should do with ease, who are $15.
The Blues face another challenging test this weekend against the Crusaders, who are $1.25 favourites.
The Waratahs return to Sydney after a narrow defeat against the Crusaders. They look to end a 38-game winless streak for Australian teams against Kiwi opposition. They will be $2.80 outsiders for their match against the Highlanders who are $1.44 favourites.
The Brumbies will need an inspired performance as $6 underdogs to shock the Lions who return to South Africa after a 1-3 tour of Australia and New Zealand, as $1.13 favourites.
