Was the hype surrounding the Seattle Seahawks a little much? Sure, their 4-0 start was highly impressive, but it was only a matter of time before someone found a way to break through their seemingly impenetrable defence. And that someone was Andrew Luck and his Indianapolis Colts as they upended Seattle 34-28.
But while the loss to the Colts knocked Seattle out of the shrinking group of unbeaten teams in the NFL, it was a road loss, and the Seahawks still hold an imposing 10-consecutive home ground winning record (including last year’s play-offs). And there’s no doubt they have the loudest fans in the league and thus, the biggest home field advantage.
It means that Seattle will be hell bent on bouncing back this week against the Titans; a team coming off a tough defeat at home to the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs. Tennessee however, has been solid in the early stages of the season, convincingly beating the Jets before their most recent 26-17 loss. Their other defeat of the season was a bravely-fought match on the road against the Houston Texans, which went to overtime.
The biggest question mark hanging over the Titans is their quarterback. With starter Jake Locker out for four to six weeks with a sprained hip, it’ll be up to Ryan Fitzpatrick to guide the team against a hungry Seattle. Fitzpatrick did throw for 247 yards and a touchdown last week, but also gave away two late interceptions, ending any chance of a comeback. The Titans also need to work on their running game; they’ve struggled to move the ball efficiently and convert in short-yardage situations on the ground.
Those factors will make is a tough ask for the Titans who are up against what’s largely considered as one of the best defences in the league. Seattle has given up 54 points in its last two games, but expect them to tighten up on their home turf. Over the last six matches of their ten-game home ground winning streak, the Seahawks have outscored their opponents by an incredible margin of 222-53, rarely being challenged late in games.
Seattle has been installed as 13-and-a-half point favourites in this match-up; quite a significant line (even if it’s overshadowed by the Denver-Jacksonville predicted margin). The difference in talent between the Seahawks and Titans isn’t nearly as vast as it is between the Broncos and Jags, but the Seahawks are still a class above Tennessee, especially in Seattle. I think Seattle is disciplined and strong enough to claim the ‘W’ by at least two touchdowns and its home fans are going to love it. Seattle 28, Tennessee 13.
Seattle at short odds to beat Tennessee, so throw this in a multi-bet to bump up your total odds.
Some good value in the margin market is up for grabs and I suggest the Seahawks by 13-18 points at $5.10 with IASbet. The Titans have shown they are good enough not to get blown out of the water.
