1st: No 2. Rain Affair
2nd: No 7. Better Than Ready
3rd: No 1. Buffering
4th: No 10. Sea Siren
The main race of the day, and a race that although has a dominant favourite, does appear to have some chances. Have gone with the Commands gelding Rain Affair who desperately deserves a Group One victory on his resume. With form around Pierro, Black Caviar and All Too Hard, arguably the three best horses racing around (well until at least a month ago), those performances will see him race fit and ready here over the 1200m, a distance he has numerous wins. Better Than Ready will be a valuable stallion prospect if he can crack it at Group One level and his run two starts back when fifth in the Group One Newmarket sees him with a good chance here. Race favourite Buffering was a great winner first up over the 1200m at Doomben, and he does have a very good record at Eagle Farm, while last year’s winner Sea Siren has had some indifferent form this time in but reports during the week suggests she has turned the corner and also the announcement that this is her last run for current connections after being sold during the week to Coolmore Stud.

Race 8: Ticketek Class 6 Plate (1200m)
1st: No 16. Sookie
2nd: No 6. Someday
3rd: No 14. Doubtfilly
4th: No 10. Heza Jetsetter

Best Bet Of The Day: Race 5, No 3. Survived 3yo g. (Zed x Liberal, by Generous), trained by John Barry. A winner of five of his seven career starts, including his latest four starts. Winner of back to back Group Three races, including two back over the likely danger in the race Usainity – I think this race is a race between the two of them, but feel Survived has the slight class edge over the 2200m.

Best On Breeding: Race 2, No 9. Bound For Earth 2yo f. (Northern Meteor x Bulla Borghese, by Belong To Me), trained by John O’Shea. Talented filly having her second career start, jumping straight to Group Two level off the back of a one-and-a-half length debut win. Is out of the Group One VRC Oaks winner Bulla Borghese, who has had three winners from four to the races including the stakes performers Romanus and Melpomene.
